Job description

Job Summary

The Site Reliability Engineer III is a pivotal architect of stability for CME Clearing & Risk. You will engineer secure, scalable, and reliable technology solutions that safeguard the global marketplace, bridging the gap between development and operations, ensuring risk management services remain resilient and high-performing for customers worldwide.

What You’ll Do
  • Champion Cloud Evolution: Partner with development and platform teams to orchestrate seamless application migrations and maintenance within Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Architect Resiliency: Design and implement sophisticated frameworks for operational fault tolerance, capacity planning, and system self-healing.
  • Eliminate Friction: Aggressively reduce toil by promoting automation, streamlining environment builds, and optimizing the software development lifecycle.
  • Master the Production Ecosystem: Maintain high-availability standards across on-premise and cloud environments, serve as a critical responder in on-call rotations, and lead post-incident forensic reviews.
  • Collaborate for Performance: Work side-by-side with application teams during the design phase to ensure non-functional requirements are baked into the code.
What You’ll Bring
  • Cloud & Orchestration Expertise: Deep hands‑on experience with GCP (preferred), AWS or Azure; mastery of Docker & Kubernetes.
  • Technical Versatility: Strong Linux/Unix foundations; scripting skills; mid-level development experience in Java or Python; experience with Oracle, Postgres or BigQuery.
  • SRE DNA: Profound understanding of SRE principles, including SLIs, SLOs and SLAs.
  • Observability Mindset: Experience with telemetry tools such as OpenTelemetry, Splunk, Prometheus & Grafana.
  • Operational Rigor: Familiarity with workload automation (e.g., UC4/Automic), CI/CD pipelines using Bamboo, JIRA and Git.
  • Visionary Problem‑Solving: Self‑starting approach to complex challenges; strong communication skills to document and share vision across global teams.
  • Academic Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field.
Compensation & Benefits

The pay range for this role is $100,700–$167,800. Salary depends on experience, skills, education and comparison to internal employees. The compensation program includes an annual target bonus opportunity and equity program. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, a 401(k) retirement plan, an active pension plan, education reimbursement, paid time off and a mental health benefit.
