Primary Purpose
The Systems Specialist provides technical support and administration for Sheldon ISD's physical and virtual servers, cloud services, applications, backups, identity systems, rostering, and device management environments. This position manages assigned district systems and applications and serves as a backup to the Systems Administrator to help maintain reliable, secure, and efficient district operations.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three (3) or more years of relevant technical experience and/or Experience supporting technology systems in a K 12 environment
  • Experience supporting servers, cloud applications, integrations, or related systems
  • CompTIA Server+ and/or Google Amplified Level 1 certification required within one (1) year of hire

Preferred:
  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related technical field
  • Experience with student/staff rostering and Apple JAMF device management

Special Knowledge and Skills
  • Working knowledge of physical and virtual servers, operating systems, cloud services, backup technologies, and application management
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and identity/access management
  • Knowledge of student and staff rostering, data synchronization, mapping, and application integrations
  • Working knowledge of Apple device management using JAMF
  • Ability to troubleshoot servers, applications, cloud services, authentication, and system connectivity
  • Strong documentation, communication, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with Technology Department staff and district stakeholders

Major Responsibilities and Duties
  1. Serve as a backup to the Systems Administrator and assist with the administration, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of district systems and server infrastructure.
  2. Administer and support district physical and virtual servers, including Skyward, camera servers, application servers, and other assigned server environments.
  3. Manage and monitor district backup servers and appliances, including Cohesity, to support data availability, recovery, and protection.
  4. Administer Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace, including accounts, groups, permissions, access, and other assigned administrative functions.
  5. Manage student and staff rostering, data synchronization, and account provisioning between district systems and instructional applications.
  6. Administer Apple Jamf, including device enrollment, application deployment, configuration profiles, inventory, and device management.
  7. Administer and support district applications and platforms, including Raptor, ClassLink, Destiny, FrontRow servers, Boxlight Mimio NDMS, Primero POS, Precision Business Management, ManageEngine, and other assigned systems.
  8. Administer assigned third-party applications and licensing, including Microsoft, Adobe, Zoom, and other district-supported platforms.
  9. Support identity, authentication, student password management, email filtering, and application access.
  10. Support district time clock and Lenel S2 employee badge systems in coordination with appropriate district departments.
  11. Serve as a technical resource for Campus Technology Specialists requiring assistance with server, cloud, application, account, and authentication-related issues.
  12. Troubleshoot application integrations, data synchronization, server, cloud, authentication, and system connectivity issues.
  13. Maintain accurate documentation of assigned systems, servers, applications, configurations, integrations, licensing, and technical procedures.
  14. Coordinate with vendors and district departments to support system implementations, upgrades, integrations, and technical issues.
  15. Follow district cybersecurity, access control, data privacy, backup, and technology standards.
  16. Provide professional customer service and support other areas of the Technology Department as needed.
  17. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Environment: Exposure to electrical hazards; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; frequent districtwide travel; May be required to be on-call 24 hours a day.

*Minimum Salary $59,560
*Stipend $2,000
*Salary is commensurate with experience
*Works 226 Day Calendar
*Please note that this role requires in-person attendance and is not eligible for remote work.
