Court Clerk

Clallam County is seeking a Court Clerk to join the team supporting our Superior Court and Juvenile and Family Court. Court Clerks play an important role in the daily operation of the courts, helping ensure proceedings are accurately documented, official records are maintained, and the integrity of the court record is preserved.

This position performs a broad range of clerical and courtroom support duties, including preparing accurate written records and minutes of court proceedings; maintaining official court records; identifying, securing, and maintaining custody of exhibits; administering oaths; reading verdicts; and performing audio and video functions during court proceedings.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working in a professional environment where accuracy, confidentiality, and sound judgment are essential. Typical Duties
  • Produce accurate, detailed minutes for all court proceedings
  • Identify, number and keep all court exhibits safe
  • Prepare and/or process documents and orders for signing, filing and including in court files
  • Maintain official court witness records of all who appear in court
  • Perform all jury-related functions including administering oaths, reading verdicts and polling juries
  • Perform specific audio and video functions
  • Follow courtroom procedures and instructions to maintain a smooth and routine court
  • Perform backup Bailiff duties while performing primary clerical duties, as required
  • Take custody of and store guns, knives, narcotics, cash, jewelry, clothing and other materials used as evidence
  • Handle multiple-step transactions such as receiving and/or issuing receipts, forms, cash and documents
  • Interpret and translate English-Spanish
  • Meet attendance standards necessary for successful job performance
Education, Training, & Experience

Requires knowledge of the field of assignment sufficient to perform thoroughly and accurately the full scope of responsibility as illustrated by examples in the above job description. Education/Training

    • 169-204 months = 14 hours per month
    • Over 204 months = 16.67 hours per month

Sick Leave:

  • Full-time employees accrue sick leave at the rate of 8 hours per month. Eligibility for use of sick leave is established after one month of continuous employment.
