Job description

Essential Functions of Cold End Technician
Glass Handler:
A Glass Handler packs glass in proper orientation onto racks to prepare it for customer shipment. A Glass Handler maintains a count of the number of lites (pieces of glass) placed on the rack and uses a punch to poke holes through cardboard for multiple tier packing. Checks for defects or bad cuts. Communicates with cutter lab and supervisor as needed. Sweeps and cleans the work area. Notifies supervisor and others as appropriate if there is a problem.
Closing:
Verifying the customer specs, a Closer closes racks accurately and completely by following the closing codes and looking through the flipcharts or FG Web for instructions, attaching gates when needed, to prepare glass for shipment to customers. Assists with repack, promptly responds to the line when called, restocks closing supplies, keeps equipment and tools organized, and initials tickets. Sweeps and cleans the work area. And empties cardboard and trash containers. Notifies closing inspector, supervisor, and others as appropriate if there is a problem.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
  • Tape measure reading and basic math skills needed
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Must be 18 years of age to apply
  • Able to safely lift at least 50 pounds
  • Pass a pre-employment physical ability test, background, and drug screen

Physical requirements
  • Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, or twist.
  • Grip and lift from 2 pounds up to 50 pounds. Team lift up to 120 pounds.
  • Good vision in order to count glass on a rack, detect defects, and bad cuts.

Cardinal Mooresville offers a 12-hour rotating schedule days/nights, working with 2, 2, 3-shifts. Working half the days of the year, and every other weekend off.
