Purpose Statement: The HR Assistant is responsible for performing assigned human resources, employee records, benefits, compliance, and payroll support functions for the agency. The position independently manages recruitment and onboarding processes, including coordinating recruitment activities, new employee orientation, required documentation, technical fingerprinting, and background checks for employees and other individuals as required. The HR Assistant maintains accurate and confidential personnel files, employee records, and human resources data and provides employees and supervisors with information regarding routine human resources policies, procedures, benefits, and employment processes.
The HR Assistant is also responsible for designated payroll support functions, including reviewing and maintaining employee information and timekeeping records, processing personnel and compensation changes, assisting with payroll preparation and coordinating with the Fiscal Department to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing. The position monitors required documentation and deadlines. The HR Assistant serves as an independent resource for employees and supervisors on assigned human resources processes, maintains confidentiality of sensitive employee information, and collaborates with the Human Resources Manager, Fiscal Department, and agency leadership to ensure effective and consistent administration of human resources and payroll-related functions. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full recruitment process for open positions, including posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks.
  • Oversee the onboarding process by coordinating with supervisors to ensure thorough and welcoming position orientations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date personnel records, databases, and files.
  • Assist with HR projects, staff events, and organizational initiatives that support employee engagement and development.


Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of clerical experience or two years of college, or combination of both experience and education.
  • Working knowledge and experience in using Microsoft and Google applications, Gmail, and databases.

Details:

  • 37hr per week for 52 weeks per year 
  • Wage is $23.95 per hour for qualified applicant
