Job Description

Sustaining Product Design and Supplier Development Engineer - HB Engineering

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for sustaining product development for reliability improvement, design for manufacturing, and cost reduction
  • Responsible for interfacing with quality groups to identify reliability issues in the field, driving root cause, and designing/implementing changes to mitigate these failures.
  • Responsible for meeting with manufacturing and supporting design changes to improve manufacturability and driving testing/implementation.
  • Responsible for designing/validating/implementing changes to reduce product cost
  • Lead technical design transfer to BE Contract Manufacturers and suppliers while meeting established milestones for production release
  • Ability to drive process development and improvement to manufacturability and incorporate lessons learned
  • Ability to address capacity and design for manufacturing issues with suppliers and engineers
  • Utilize engineering knowledge to provide solutions to challenging design and manufacturing problems to suppliers and engineering
  • Manage top level assemblies in a PDM system environment and communicate to supplier
  • Control drawing and model releases through an ECN process
  • Create and manage Solidworks CAD models, drawings and assemblies
  • Communicates effectively with cross functional teams and within group

Skills Required:

  • Solid understanding of engineering principles
  • Proven success working on cross-functional projects
  • Excellent Solidworks CAD & drafting knowledge
  • Experience with revision control with a CAD vault tool
  • Experience with ECN process (Agile)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter
  • Ability to travel overseas (30-50%)

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • CAD Modeling experience (Solidworks)

The Sustaining Product Design and Supplier Development Engineer is responsible for the design of Bloom's sustaining product. They will be providing technical support for our field service and quality teams in diagnosing failures and implementing design solutions. They will be interfacing with manufacturing on design improvements for manufacturing and volume as well as reduction in cost. They will be responsible for providing technical support on design and working with NPI/Quality/Supply chain in qualifying new suppliers on existing product. They will work closely with contract manufacturers for qualifying existing product as well as implementing design changes on aggressive timelines.
