Better Life Behavioral Health is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) specializing in geriatric mental health. Work Environment

In this role, you will work remotely, with the flexibility to create a work-life balance while collaborating with our outpatient office team. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Our remote setting utilizes advanced telehealth technology, ensuring that you can effectively deliver mental health services while connecting with clients and healthcare colleagues. You will have the tools and resources necessary to facilitate both individual and group therapeutic sessions with ease.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly clients to accurately identify their mental health needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Provide both individual and group counseling sessions, tailored to address the emotional challenges faced by seniors, such as grief, anxiety, depression, and life transitions.
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to create holistic care plans that encompass the varied needs of geriatric clients.
• Implement therapeutic interventions, including cognitive stimulation programs, to enhance overall mental well-being and cognitive function in older adults.
• Educate family members and staff about best practices for supporting the mental health and emotional well-being of elderly individuals, fostering an environment of understanding and compassion.
• Facilitate grief and loss counseling for clients and their families, helping them navigate the complexities of end-of-life issues with dignity and support.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role focuses on providing mental health care to geriatric clients coping with various life challenges, including the effects of aging, loss, transitions into retirement homes or assisted living, and chronic health conditions. As a mental health counselor, you will be instrumental in advocating for and enhancing the lives of elderly individuals from diverse backgrounds, respecting their unique cultural influences and personal histories.

Qualifications

• A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) license.
• A minimum of four years of recent, relevant experience in geriatric mental health counseling, specifically with older adults experiencing psychological challenges.
• Additional training or certification in geriatric mental health and aging-related issues is preferred.
• Proficiency in evidence-based interventions designed for improving mental well-being among seniors.
• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to connect meaningfully with elderly clients and their families.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in delivering counseling services remotely via telehealth platforms.
• Familiarity with specific therapeutic modalities and tools commonly used in geriatric mental health treatment.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive assessments and develop tailored treatment approaches based on individualized client needs.
• Awareness of ethical and legal standards governing geriatric mental health practice.

Compensation and Benefits

Our organization offers a competitive salary ranging from USD 65,000 to 95,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to this attractive salary structure, you will receive a sign-on bonus as part of your employment package.
