Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed mental health assessments for elderly residents, identifying specific emotional and psychological needs to inform personalized treatment plans.
• Provide both individual and group counseling sessions that address emotional challenges, enhancing coping strategies related to aging.
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement comprehensive care plans, ensuring holistic support for each client.
• Educate both staff and family members on effective strategies for enhancing the emotional well-being and quality of life for elderly individuals.
• Facilitate grief and loss counseling, offering compassionate support to residents and their families experiencing end-of-life issues.
• Implement cognitive stimulation programs aimed at promoting mental acuity and resilience among elderly clients.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this role is on geriatric individuals who are facing a variety of mental health challenges, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, grief from the loss of loved ones, and adjustment issues as they navigate significant life transitions. Understanding the distinctive needs of an aging population and employing evidence-based interventions to foster quality mental health care is crucial. This position aims to cultivate a supportive atmosphere where seniors feel valued, understood, and encouraged to seek help.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification in the state of Florida.
• A minimum of four years of recent experience in geriatric counseling and mental health support.
• Additional training or specialization in geriatric mental health and age-related concerns.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in delivering counseling services to seniors, addressing a wide range of mental health challenges.
• A strong understanding of evidence-based interventions used in geriatric mental health care.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, essential for connecting with elderly clients and their families.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position ranges from USD 65,000 to 95,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
