Job description

Summary

The Graduate Assistant is responsible for various tasks associated with NCAA Compliance, Academic Services, Facilities/Event management, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and other duties assigned by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Barry Athletics includes approximately 500 student-athletes participating Varsity, JV, and Club sports. BarryU competes in the NCAA Division II and is within the Sunshine State Conference.GA will need to complete NCAA modules as well communicate with coaches via ARMS that require a Barry staff email.

Essential Functions

Primary responsibilities for Academic Services:

  • Coordinate Student-Athlete Study Hall, including reviewing transcripts to prepare SH requirements for student-athletes, monitoring systems, reports, data, records, follow-up with coaches, faculty & staff.

  • Act as the monitor during supervised study hall sessions when work study students are not available.

  • Implement policies & procedures training during Academic-Team meetings (i.e., develop SH info packet & PPT).

  • Provide weekly study hall updates to coaching staff, send absence letters to professors, prepare and track study hall violation notices, absences, and suspensions.

  • Follow up with study hall site personnel regarding check-in systems.

  • Post all relevant information for study hall via Email, bulletin boards, Canvas, and ARMS.

  • Assist in training tutors and scheduling tutoring sessions.

  • Conduct daily monitoring and follow up with Student-Athlete Academic Reporting using Power BI or S2C.

  • Assist with mentoring, tutoring and student meetings.

  • Schedule work study students and train them to assist in tasks.

Primary responsibilities for Compliance:

  • Assist Assistant AD with rules education, roster management, continuing eligibility, ARMS, Compliance Assistant and ACS updates, and required NCAA and SSC reports and documentation. CARA hours.

Primary Responsibilities for Facilities and Operations:

  • Assist with event and game management operations including any Barry special events (NGWSD, Bucky's, Golf Tournaments, Academic Success Night, Theme Nights, etc), NCAA sponsored programs, SSC/NCAA postseason tournaments, alumni events, etc.

  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of assigned home events.

  • Assist with logistics as needed and complete other duties as assigned by any Intercollegiate Athletics Administrators.

  • Serve as game manager and work the score table/replay as needed.

  • Assist in fan engagement, community services, and sponsorships.

  • Other duties as assigned by any Intercollegiate Athletics Administrators.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in any area.

  • A valid driver's license.
