Job description

Atrium is seeking on behalf of our client a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) based in New York, NY.

Position Overview

The Chief Financial Officer will serve as the senior finance executive for a client of ours that is a Bank. This role will be responsible for financial management, reporting, and governance. This role partners closely with the CEO and Board to shape strategy, oversee regulatory compliance, and support infrastructure development during a transformational growth phase. The CFO will operate within a global financial institution framework while maintaining hands-on leadership in a lean environment. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all financial reporting under U.S. GAAP, including monthly, quarterly, and annual packages for the CEO, Board, and parent company
  • Lead preparation and filing of regulatory reports (Call Reports, FR Y-9, OCC/FDIC/Federal Reserve filings)
  • Manage external audit relationships and coordinate regulatory exam preparation
  • Own budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis; present results to senior leadership and Board
  • Compute and monitor regulatory capital ratios; ensure compliance with OCC minimums and internal targets
  • Prepare and present financial materials for Board committees and regulatory audiences
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting and oversee finance operations
  • Coordinate integration with head office on accounting, managerial reporting, and system projects
Required Experience/Skills
  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience in U.S. banking, including 5+ years in a CFO, Deputy CFO, or Controller role at an OCC-regulated bank
  • Direct experience with OCC regulatory examinations and filings (Call Reports, capital calculations)
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP as applied to banking, including CECL and investment accounting
  • Proven ability to prepare financial materials for Boards and manage external audits
  • Strong communication skills for interaction with regulators, auditors, and executive leadership
  • CPA preferred
Preferred Experience/Skills
  • Experience at a foreign-owned U.S. bank subsidiary or post-acquisition environment
  • Familiarity with CRE lending portfolios and growth-phase banking institutions
  • Portuguese or Spanish language skills a plus
  • Background in system integration and managerial reporting within a global finance structure
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • CPA designation strongly preferred
  • Advanced degree (MBA or Master’s in Finance) desirable
  • Continuing education in regulatory compliance and banking finance best practices
