Job Description:
Phlebotomist Clerical Support
Obtains blood specimens, in a courteous and professional manner, from patients of all age ranges.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Demonstrates the ability to use a personal computer and various software programs applicable to the position
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate applicable office equipment
  • Exhibits the ability to deal effectively interdepartmentally & with the public
  • Exhibits the ability to maintain confidentiality, think and act independently with minimal supervision in all situations including traumas
  • Must have legible handwriting
  • Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
  • Registered as a Certified Laboratory Phlebotomist with a national certification agency for medical laboratory personnel or the American Society for Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or show proof of pending recertification preferred

EXPERIENCE
  • Working knowledge of, but not limited to: HIS and LIS computer Systems and related equipment, 5-line telephone, Vacutainer System-syringes, butterfly needles, safety needles, finger-heelstick devices, autoclave and bar code printers preferred

  • Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone
