Job description

ARES Corporation is an employee-owned aerospace and engineering services company supporting critical national programs across NASA, the Department of Defense, and other Federal agencies. ARES provides engineering, mission operations, safety and mission assurance, information technology, and range support services for some of the nation’s most complex aerospace missions.

ARES is the prime contractor for the Wallops Range Contract supporting NASA Wallops Flight Facility. The contract provides mission-critical support for launch range operations, telemetry, radar, communications, engineering, maintenance, and sustainment activities supporting orbital and suborbital missions.

Position Overview

ARES is seeking a Junior Telemetry Technician to support Mobile Telemetry (TM) operations and maintenance activities at Wallops Flight Facility and remote mission locations. The selected candidate will support the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and deployment of telemetry systems and associated RF communications equipment supporting launch and mission operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate andmaintaintelemetry ground station equipment and RF/SAT communications systems.
  • Support mobile telemetry system deployment, setup, and teardown activities at remote mission locations.
  • Operate andmaintaintelemetry equipment including antennas, receivers, demodulators, bit synchronizers, recording devices, and ancillary interfaces.
  • Perform fault isolation and troubleshooting activities on telemetry and communications systems.
  • Interpret schematics, system drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Utilize electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters, power meters, and signal generators.
  • Maintain operational logs and preventative maintenance documentation.
  • Follow all company and NASA operational, safety, and quality procedures.
  • Support mission operations under the supervision of senior technicians and engineering staff.
  • Perform physical tasks including lifting equipment and climbing around antenna systems asrequired.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or two years of technical education in Electronics or a related technical field, or equivalent military technical training.
  • Familiarity with electronic test equipment and instrumentation.
  • Ability totravel to remote locations
  • Strong communicationand teamwork skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with telemetry ground station equipment or RF/SAT communications systems.
  • Experience supporting mobile telemetry or mobile communications systems preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electronic and RF systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical schematics and drawings.

Work Environment:

Safety and quality awareness and compliance are required. Shift work may be required based on mission schedules and operational requirements. Assignments may change or vary depending on mission needs.
