HOURLY RATE: up to $22.50


SUMMARY

The Volunteer Coordinator for the Finger Lakes Caregiver Institute (FLCI) and AmeriCorps Seniors programs is responsible for the recruitment, screening, onboarding, training, engagement, and recognition of volunteers across Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, and Wayne counties, with a primary focus on the Partners in Caring Program and AmeriCorps Seniors initiatives in Livingston County.


This role maintains volunteer records and manages the volunteer database; works closely with the Respite Team and community partners to match volunteers with families; and provides ongoing oversight, support, and retention efforts to ensure positive, impactful volunteer experiences. The Coordinator also conducts outreach across the Finger Lakes region through presentations, tabling events, and community engagement activities, and is responsible for accurate reporting and documentation to support program success.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruit, screen, and onboard volunteers, including conducting interviews, coordinating orientations, and facilitating training. 
  • Support volunteer placement, engagement, and retention by meeting with applicants, coordinating assignments with program staff, and maintaining an appropriate level of active volunteers. 
  • Plan and conduct community outreach and recruitment efforts for FLCI and AmeriCorps Seniors programs, including presentations, tabling events, and engagement with community groups, faith communities, and volunteer organizations.
  • Provide ongoing support to volunteers through regular check-ins, guidance, and problem-solving to ensure positive volunteer experiences. 
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date volunteer and program records using databases (including Better Impact), SharePoint, Excel, and other tracking systems. 
  • Collect, review, and enter volunteer hours, mileage, and related documentation; ensure timely and accurate data entry. 
  • Prepare and submit required reports, including computerized and manual reporting as needed. 
  • Collaborate with team members to coordinate volunteer recognition activities and appreciation efforts. 
  • Assist with development of newsletters and other communications to volunteers and community partners. 
  • Support program evaluation activities, including surveys and data collection for continuous quality improvement. 
  • Participate in Finger Lakes Caregiver Institute and AmeriCorps Seniors team meetings, Lifespan Volunteer Coordinator meetings, Advisory Council meetings, and others as applicable.
  • Maintain current knowledge in aging and caregiving-related topics, including Alzheimer's disease and dementia. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Associate degree preferred; Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) a plus
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered

Experience and Skills

  • Knowledge of community resources 
  • Experience working with volunteers or in volunteer programs 
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; comfort working within databases

Background Check Requirement

  • Must successfully pass criminal history background checks, including: 
    • National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW)
    • New York State Unified Court System
    • Fingerprint-based FBI background check

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to travel by car; reliable transportation and valid driver's license required
  • Daily work is primarily performed at a desk or computer workstation
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments

Multiple factors will be considered for salary/hourly determination including, years of relevant service, skills required, education, and internal equity.
