At Alliant Energy, you'll lead strategic finance and investor relations efforts that influence capital investments, enterprise growth, and shareholder value for years to come.
The Director Investor Relations & Strategic Finance directs the company's enterprise financial outlook, investor communications, and long term strategic financial planning. This position leads the development of forward looking financial analyses that guide corporate decision making, strengthens Alliant Energy's market positioning through transparent, compelling investor engagement, and ensures financial strategies align with regulatory, operational, and shareholder priorities. The role partners closely with senior leaders across the organization to evaluate strategic opportunities, support capital investment planning, and drive financial insights that create long term value.
What you will do
  • Performs all leadership duties including, but not limited to, hiring, and rewarding talent, fostering an inclusive and safe workplace, partnering with employees to set clear goals and expectations, providing timely and specific feedback on performance, developing improvement plans to address performance gaps, addressing conflict with care and respect, identifying opportunities for growth and development, embracing and modeling a mindset of lifelong learning, ensuring employees report to work fit for duty, adhering to our Code of Conduct and modeling Alliant Energy's Core Values at all times.
  • Leads the development and execution of long-term financial strategies, including capital investment planning, enterprise financial modeling, and support for strategic initiatives that drive sustainable value for customers and shareholders.
  • Evaluates strategic opportunities, investments, and financial risks, providing forward-looking insights and recommendations to senior leaders that shape corporate direction and long-term planning decisions.
  • Directs investor relations strategy and communication, ensuring clear, consistent, and accurate messaging on financial results, regulatory developments, operational performance, and strategic priorities.
  • Cultivates relationships with investors, analysts, and rating agencies, fostering transparency, confidence, and alignment between Alliant Energy's strategic direction and external stakeholder expectations.
  • Directs and manages the development of compelling investor-focused content, including overseeing preparation of earnings materials, financial disclosures, and investor presentations to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with strategic messaging.
  • Monitors market trends, peer performance, analyst perspectives to inform investor messaging and strategic decision-making.
  • Leads and mentors' teams across strategic finance, capital planning, and investor relations, ensuring alignment of roles, priorities, and capabilities across the strategic financial planning and investor relations organization.
  • Collaborates with senior leaders across Finance, Operations, Regulatory, and Strategy, ensuring financial strategies reflect business needs, regulatory considerations, and market conditions.
  • Oversees and directs special projects involving financial analysis of key enterprise initiatives, ensuring timely, accurate insight that supports strategic decision-making and operational execution.
  • Engages in other duties as needed that support our Values and help deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree - Emphasis in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Financial Management, or related field. | Preferred
  • Master's Degree - Business Administration, or related field. | Preferred

Required Experience
  • 10+ years of financial, strategic planning, investor relations, or related experience. | Required
  • 6 years progressively more responsible management experience. | Required
  • Profit and loss experience. | Required
  • Utility or regulatory industry experience. | Required
  • Financial management or capital-intensive industry experience. | Required

Other Requirements
  • Investor Relations experience | Preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver's license. | Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, investor expectations, and the regulatory and economic factors influencing utility performance. | Required
  • Demonstrated ability to develop long-term financial strategies and evaluate investments, risks, and value-creation opportunities. | Required
