Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive crisis assessments and deliver immediate interventions for clients facing acute mental health challenges.
  • Provide compassionate counseling and support to individuals in distress, guiding them towards effective coping strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with emergency response teams and law enforcement when necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of clients in crisis.
  • Develop and implement individualized crisis intervention plans based on client needs and preferences.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role will primarily focus on individuals experiencing immediate mental health crises, including those affected by addiction, trauma, emotional distress, and suicidal ideation. Our clients are diverse, representing various backgrounds and cultures, and require a counselor who can provide culturally sensitive and empathetic support. Your ability to build trust and establish therapeutic relationships will be essential in helping these individuals facilitate their healing journeys.

Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid license as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the State of New York.
  • A minimum of three years of recent experience providing crisis intervention and mental health counseling.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based practices in crisis intervention and trauma-informed care.
  • Demonstrable skills in effective communication and interpersonal relations, particularly in stressful situations.
  • Commitment to ethical practice and an understanding of the legal standards guiding mental health counseling.
Preferred Experience
  • Specialized training in crisis counseling and de-escalation techniques.
  • Experience working with clients in various stages of recovery from addiction and mental health disorders.
  • Proficiency in using telehealth technology to deliver therapeutic services effectively.
Compensation and Benefits
