Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments for seniors, identifying their unique needs and developing individualized treatment plans.
• Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions that address emotional issues related to aging, including grief, loss, and adjustment to life changes.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to create comprehensive care strategies tailored to each client's situation.
• Provide educational resources and support to families and caregivers, enhancing their understanding of mental health issues affecting the elderly.
• Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and cognitive stimulation, to improve mental acuity and overall mental health for seniors.
• Monitor client progress and adjust treatment approaches as necessary, ensuring optimal outcomes in alignment with established goals.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This position focuses on providing mental health support to senior adults facing diverse challenges, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, grief, and cognitive decline. Your work will directly contribute to improving their quality of life and emotional resilience. You will engage with clients who may be dealing with complex life transitions, encouraging their participation in therapy through trust-building and empathy.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) designation in the state of Florida.
• A minimum of 4 years of recent experience providing mental health counseling and support to geriatric populations.
• Training or certifications in geriatric mental health and aging-related counseling methodologies.

Preferred Experience

• Experience utilizing evidence-based interventions and therapies specifically designed for elderly clients.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with seniors, their families, and healthcare team members.
• An ability to demonstrate cultural sensitivity and adaptability in working with diverse populations.
