Job Title: Project Manager 3

Location(s): Austin, TX
Position Overview
A public sector organization is seeking an experienced Project Manager III to lead complex, enterprise-level initiatives. The selected candidate will provide senior-level project management support, ensuring successful delivery of strategic projects by managing scope, schedule, budget, risks, and stakeholder engagement across cross-functional teams. The role requires adherence to established project governance standards and project management methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, resource allocation, risk management, and communication plans.
  • Define project objectives, deliverables, milestones, and success criteria in collaboration with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, vendors, and business units to ensure successful execution of project activities.
  • Monitor project performance, track milestones, and proactively identify, escalate, and resolve project issues and risks.
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings, status updates, and executive reporting to ensure effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage project scope changes through formal change control processes while ensuring compliance with governance standards.
  • Oversee vendor performance and ensure contractual deliverables are met.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procurement requirements, and project governance guidelines.
  • Maintain project documentation, reporting, and administrative records throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead project closure activities, including final reporting, deliverable acceptance, and lessons learned documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience managing large-scale, complex IT or business transformation projects in a structured environment.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, including PMI/PMBOK, Agile, and Hybrid approaches.
  • Extensive experience developing and managing project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Proven experience managing multiple stakeholders across business and technical teams.
  • Strong background in risk management, issue tracking, and change control processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentations and reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira, or similar platforms.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with organizational governance, policies, and procurement processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within public sector or state government environments, preferably supporting public safety or law enforcement organizations.
  • Experience managing projects under government procurement frameworks such as FAST, DIR, or similar contracts.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent.
  • Experience managing IT system implementations, enterprise applications, or large-scale data system projects.
