About the Role

As a Contract Surety Underwriter, you'll be at the heart of our surety operations - evaluating risk, approving bonds, and cultivating the agent relationships that drive our business forward. About You

You are a confident, detail-oriented underwriting professional with a passion for surety and a talent for building lasting relationships. You bring strong financial acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to balance analytical thinking with a commercially savvy mindset. You're comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities, and representing Swiss Re Corporate Solutions in the marketplace with energy and professionalism.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of contract surety underwriting experience, with demonstrated ability to assess and approve bonds within an assigned authority framework
  • Strong quantitative and financial analysis skills, including the ability to review and interpret financial statements, accounting audits, and credit information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, with the ability to manage documentation, reporting, and data analysis effectively

Additional preferred skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in business, finance, or accounting - or equivalent professional experience
  • Proven track record in agency relationship management, including securing new agents and growing a book of business
  • Strong marketing and business development skills, with the ability to engage contractor clients and identify new opportunities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting updates and reports to senior leadership
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% to meet with agents and visit bond accounts
