Job Summary:
The California Department of Public Health Center for Public Health Reporting Information Exchange (PRIME) Branch is recruiting for an Informatics Supervisor 2 to join an exciting team developing innovative solutions to strengthen CDPH's public health data ecosystem. The incumbent will join the team leading the design and implementation of disease prevention and control activities related to electronic laboratory reporting of reportable communicable diseases. Responsibilities will include the following:
- Applying advanced professional public health informatics concepts and extensive knowledge of industry practices to projects of all levels of scope and complexity.
- Leading project teams in developing innovative informatics and public health data collection, monitoring, management, and analysis systems.
- Identifying and implementing strategies for integrating multiple data systems and improving existing public health surveillance data systems and infrastructure. Conducting data quality assurance and quality improvement projects.
- Developing protocols and guidelines and providing information and technical assistance to support local health jurisdictions and other CDPH program partners in data modernization, particularly as it relates to electronic laboratory reporting.
- Act as a technical lead to data analysts, data specialists, contract staff, and epidemiologists. Additionally, this position requires strong informatics knowledge to coordinate laboratory data collection, data exchange, reporting and analytics, quality assurance/quality control processes, and identification and resolution of reporting results. The position will interact and collaborate with several multidisciplinary CDPH teams as well as other internal and external partners as they contribute to communicable disease projects.
- Supervise contract staff responsible for ensuring that laboratory data submitters are reporting timely and complete data to public health.
Department Overview:
The Clinical Informatics Supervisor hired will contribute to infectious and non-infectious disease work within the Public Health Reporting Information Exchange Branch (PRIME) and collaborate with programs across the Center for Infectious Disease (CID) in CDPH. This specific position will join staff in the PRIME Branch of the Division of Communicable Disease Control. The scope of the REIME Branch's work includes managing and analyzing electronic laboratory data, ensuring the completeness and quality of electronically reported laboratory data, and advancing and modernizing public health surveillance data systems, particularly as it relates to electronic laboratory reporting.
