Nuclear Safety Engineer 1

Position Overview:

Performs Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) activities that assure plant operations are conducted in compliance with governmental regulations and license conditions and in a manner such that a criticality excursion and its consequences will not occur.

Location:

On-site in Erwin, Tennessee.

Your Day to Day as a Nuclear Safety Engineer:

  • Assists in the development and maintenance of plant NCS procedures and manuals that establish NCS limits and controls on all SNM activities.
  • Advises production and support groups on proposed facility and equipment modifications on NCS criteria and performs preliminary NCS evaluations thereon.
  • Conducts audits to assure compliance with NCS controls, approved procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Investigates unusual occurrences related to NCS and recommends changes to make improvements.
  • Reviews current operating procedures for required NCS criteria and license conditions.
  • Assists in the coordination of NCS activities conducted for the plant by outside consultants.
  • Maintains a system of records and reports for documenting NCS-related actions.
  • Routinely reviews governmental, industrial, and technical publications for new information that could enhance the NCS Program.

Required Qualifications:

B. S. -- Engineering (Nuclear Engineering preferred)

One - two years' relevant experience in the nuclear fuel cycle.

Pay: $76,000 - $119,000

The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $76,000 and $119,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
