Job Description The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is looking for a highly motivated, experienced individual to perform plant analysis supporting the next nuclear-powered submarine design. This position provides the opportunity to join in on the cutting edge of nuclear technology while supporting the US Navy and impacting the next Naval reactor plant design. Specific work items include: Analysis to support component/system design and early procedure development Development of protective features to improve operability, cost, and thermal performance margin for the next reactor design Development of a reactor plant model to support early design studies Applicants should have good communication and writing skills, be dedicated to delivering high-quality technical work products, and have completed coursework in heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid flow. Prior coursework in nuclear is desired but not required as this position involves coursework and mentoring in nuclear engineering concepts. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; or Currently a Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.
