Job description

We have an exciting opportunity at Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC (PlayStation). Our software production organization seeks a software engineer for our Platform Audio team. This team is a trailblazer in audio technology. Efforts here will contribute to the development of system libraries used for both our current and next generation PlayStation products. You will drive the design and implementation of technology used for 3D audio, hardware DSP, and virtual reality. The software you develop here is the foundation of an SDK for industry leading game and content developers and will change the way audio is used worldwide. If this is you, please apply! 

Responsibilities:

  • Drive algorithm development and implementation in spatial audio, psychoacoustics, and other audio related fields including HRTF (capture, synthesis, personalization), Ambisonics, loudspeaker rendering, and more

  • Develop requirements based on research or user input and assist with platform integration

  • Systems level multi-threaded programming and debugging using C and C++

  • Collaborate with international counterparts to contribute to PlayStation's Tempest 3D Audio technology and our greater audio ecosystem

Qualifications:

  • 5 years or more of digital signal processing experience

  • Proficient in: C/C++, Python

  • Experience as a technical contributor to a project involving spatial audio

  • Solid understanding of basic acoustic and psychoacoustic principles

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Nice-to-Have:

  • Basic source control experience (git)

  • Knowledge of audio production tools and software (e.g. Reaper, VST Development)

  • Embedded systems development

  • Graphics or GPU programming experience

  • ML/AI modeling and training experience

  • Experience in developing novel audio technologies
