Job description

A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Manufacturing Engineer for Investment Casting, you act as the project lead for product and process qualifications of turbine blades and vanes used in the hot gas section and produced from superalloys using the investment casting process. You serve as the interface between Design Engineering and our supply chain, with the goal of qualifying our gas turbine technology on time while meeting cost and quality targets. Your focus will be on ensuring manufacturability across the entire production chain. Together with both operational and strategic procurement, you form a team for holistic supplier management.
How You'll Make an Impact
  • Project responsibility for the entire manufacturing and product lifecycle - from "Design for Manufacture" through industrialization and into series production
  • Conducting design reviews as part of the Product Development Process (PDP), taking into account procurement and manufacturing considerations
  • Responsibility for process and product data evaluation during qualification; project planning for new development and series projects; and leading improvement initiatives such as cycle-time reduction, cost saving programs, and NCC reduction for serial components
  • Supplier management of casting suppliers-in terms of quality, cost, and lead time
  • Assessment of existing suppliers and supporting the selection of new suppliers and driving their development

What You Bring
  • Successfully completed Bachelor's, Master's, or Diploma degree in Foundry Engineering, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Extensive Experience in the foundry industry, specifically in investment casting, including relevant process, design, and metallurgical knowledge as well as in quality assurance (FMEA, 8 Step, etc.) as well as knowledge or qualifications related to non destructive testing methods (dye penetrant inspection, X ray, ultrasonic wall thickness measurement)
  • Excellent communication and motivational skills within cross functional organizational structures-working with various internal departments, suppliers, and customers-as you will lead qualification teams
  • Willingness to travel internationally
  • Advanced skills in MS Office applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project. Ideally, experience with SAP and Teamcenter
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
