POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION:               Custodial Zone Coordinator
LOCATION:             Facilities
JOB SUMMARY:
The Custodial Zone Coordinator will plan and organize custodial services ensuring attractive, clean, and safe facilities in which to learn and work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  1. High School diploma or equivalent required;
  2. Five (5) years of work-related experience required;
  3. Two (2) years of supervisory experience required;
  4. Considerable knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work;
  5. Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, cleaning agents, and related products and their possible reactions;
  6. Must have a valid Georgia Driver's license and a good driving record; Class B endorsement preferred;
  7. Experience in Google and Microsoft Office Suite;
  8. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.
 
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:     
  1. Ability to work from sketches, blueprints, and oral and written instructions;
  2. Must have excellent organizational skills;
  3. Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  1. Ensures all custodial tasks and standards are accomplished within the assigned zone as prescribed in the Custodial Handbook;
  2. Directs workflow, distribution, and productivity by providing the Head Custodians instruction, support, and direction;
  3. Coordinates with the Head Custodians in assigning individual custodial work zones, tasks, and schedules to be accomplished within the individual buildings/sites;
  4. Explains priorities for completion of individual tasks and special priorities for completion of individual tasks and special projects to Head Custodians and individual custodians;
  5. Resolves problems associated with school/site assignments and disagreements;
  6. Ensures safe working conditions for students, faculty, and staff;
  7. Trains and instructs custodial staff in proper and safe ways to perform custodial services and the state operation and maintenance of equipment;
  8. Reviews custodial work to ensure compliance with standards;
  9. Prepares Head Custodians' performance evaluations and assists them in preparing individual custodians' performance evaluations;
  10. Maintains records of employees' hours worked and inventories of supplies/materials at the sites;
  11. Reviews labor processes to ensure the accuracy of tasks, material use, and labor expended;
  12. Assists in the development of assignments, schedules, and calendars;
  13. Performs daily, weekly, and monthly building inspections;
  14. Keeps accurate records and reports;
  15. Assists the Custodial Services Supervisor in conducting, recording, and correcting Environmental Reviews;
  16. Able to comprehend and expedite given instructions;
  17. Performs other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor. 
 
REPORTS TO:         Custodial Zone Coordinator
SALARY RANGE:   Twelve-month contract with salary to be established by the DCSS.
