Full-time

Posted 10 days ago

Key responsibilities

  • Review source recordings, transcripts, outlines, and creative direction to shape raw conversations into clear, high-retention videos.

  • Shape the full story by removing repetition, clarifying ideas, strengthening transitions, and protecting momentum, including owning the cold open, pacing, and story structure.

  • Use graphics, motion, B-roll, screen captures, text, music, and silence purposefully, and deliver platform-ready exports while maintaining organized project files and versions.

Job description

Turn complex business conversations into YouTube videos people finish

We are hiring long-form YouTube video editors for Eric Siu's AI, marketing, business, entrepreneur, and podcast content. Include “Long-form editing is cool” in the subject line. Otherwise, your application will be disqualified.

You will shape raw conversations and recordings into clear, high-retention videos. You will own the cold open, story structure, pacing, visual support, audio, captions, revisions, and final handoff. This is not an assembly-line edit role. You need the judgment to find the story, remove what does not serve it, and make hard ideas easy to follow.

About Single Grain

Single Grain is a revenue marketing agency. We build pipeline-focused systems that compound, not campaigns that expire. We have helped more than 500 companies, from venture-backed startups to the Fortune 500, drive measurable growth.

Eric Siu hosts the Leveling Up podcast and co-hosts Marketing School with Neil Patel. The content reaches marketers, founders, and operators across YouTube, podcasts, email, and social platforms.

We operate as an AI-native team. Every role uses AI to improve speed, quality, judgment, and leverage. AI output still requires strong human taste and quality control.

Your mission

Publish clear, current, high-retention long-form YouTube videos on schedule and improve the production system with every release.

Primary KPI: reliable weekly delivery that improves first-30-second retention, average percentage viewed, first-pass approval, or qualified CTA actions from the first-30-day baseline.

What you will own
  • Review source recordings, transcripts, outlines, and creative direction.

  • Build cold opens that establish the promise fast and earn the next minute.

  • Shape the full story: remove repetition, clarify ideas, strengthen transitions, and protect momentum.

  • Use graphics, motion, B-roll, screen captures, text, music, and silence with purpose.

  • Clean and mix audio, create accurate captions, and deliver platform-ready exports.

  • Use AI for transcript analysis, selects, rough cuts, cleanup, captions, graphics, or quality control while keeping editorial judgment human.

  • Maintain organized project files, versions, naming, and handoff notes.

  • Use retention, revision, and publishing feedback to improve the next video.

  • Coordinate with the strategist, thumbnail designer, and publishing owner.

What success looks like

In 30 days, you understand the channels, audience, offers, visual language, and review system, and you can deliver a polished representative edit on time.

By 60 days, you sustain the agreed weekly volume with at least 95% on-time delivery and solve routine story and pacing problems without close supervision.

By 90 days, you own the edit from source intake through final handoff and show measurable improvement in retention, revision efficiency, or qualified CTA action.

Evidence we need to see
  • Two complete, recent long-form YouTube or video-podcast examples for B2B, AI, SaaS, business, entrepreneur, marketing, finance, or expert-led creators.

  • Your exact contribution to story, cold open, pacing, graphics, audio, and final delivery.

  • Evidence that you can make editorial decisions without frame-by-frame direction.

  • A concrete AI-assisted workflow and a clear QA method.

  • Reliable turnaround, organized files, and a professional revision process.

  • Quantified retention, production, CTA, lead, or business-outcome evidence attributable to your work.

This role is not
  • A reel-only application with no complete long-form example.

  • A basic podcast multicam cut with no story judgment.

  • A role that waits for exact timestamps and complete edit instructions.

  • A role for stale templates, inflated ownership, or views-only claims.

  • A role where AI output ships without human review.

How the process works
  1. Application and portfolio review.

  2. A focused screen against the role outcomes.

  3. A paid test using one real source asset: one cold open and one representative edited segment.

  4. One revision round and a short walkthrough of your choices.

  5. References and final decision.

The paid test is timeboxed and will not be used as unpaid production work.

Work model and compensation

This is a fully remote contractor role, and we may hire more than one editor. Applicants must state their project or weekly rate, expected video capacity, normal turnaround, revision policy, available working hours, and start date.

Apply with proof

Include two complete recent relevant videos, your exact role, the source you received, your AI workflow, rate or compensation expectations, videos per week, turnaround, revision policy, availability, and one quantified result.
