THE OPPORTUNITY
Steel Encounters is seeking an Assistant Project Manager. This is a critical position for Steel Encounters' project management team. A great Assistant Project Manager utilizes the highest level of organizational, planning, and communication skills to keep the project team organized and informed. Working alongside the Project Manager, the Assistant Project Manager participates in nearly every aspect of the project and strives diligently to ensure the successful attainment of its objectives.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Provide continual and effective communication with customers and project team. This includes regular telephone calls, e-mails, taking and distributing meeting minutes, maintaining, and distributing various reports and logs
  • Create project schedules: Assist the PM and Scheduler in the development of a complete project schedule. Regularly communicate schedule expectations to team members and consistently follow-up on project milestones and goals.
  • Create submittals: Under the direction of the PM, collect and submit complete product submittals per specifications, contractual requirements, and exclusions
  • Complete RFIs: Work closely with engineering staff, vendors and subs, the PM, and our customers to write, resolve, and fully process RFIs in a timely manner
  • Document Control: Team member primarily responsible for the maintenance of the architectural conformance documents post-project award and turnover from estimating
  • Assist PM and estimator in the management of change documents and collaboration with engineering and outside vendors on the incorporation of approved changes into shop drawings
  • Procurement: Work with PM and engineering staff to prepare material takeoff packages to meet project sequencing and delivery requirements. Assist PM with placing purchase orders and other commitments, as required
  • Function as the assistant manager on assigned projects. Be capable of covering for the Project Manager at various meetings and with emails and phone calls during their absence. Work closely with Project Manager to gain further insight on project financial, schedule, and risk management.

KEYS TO SUCCESS
  • Minimum of two years' experience in construction with a preference for glazing and facades.
  • Well versed in Microsoft Office products
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Comprehends architectural and structural drawings for large commercial buildings
  • Collaborate effectively with company and project team
  • Responsible and professional in approach to work

WAGES & BENEFITS
  • Salary is negotiable based on experience ($60,000 - $70,000)
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan and 401(k) Profit Share and annual bonus plan
  • Health insurance (Company pays 75% of premium) and all other standard benefits
  • $40.00 monthly cell phone reimbursement
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) & Eight (8) paid holidays
