The South Shore YMCA'S Camp Gordon Clark is a place where campers aged 4-15 come to enjoy a wide range of summer adventures.

Camp is a unique place where we have the opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of many youth. Along with the fun that camp provides comes great responsibility, long hot days with many different challenges. In addition to practical experience and training, you must have a strong desire to work with youth. Working with us requires you to be a positive role model for youth and a compassionate leader amongst campers and staff at all times.

OPPORTUNITIES:

JR COUNSELOR. Applicants must be at least 16 years old by June 22nd. Jr. Counselors work in a team with Sr. and Head Counselors and assist leading a group of up to 50 campers through their camp day.

SR. COUNSELOR. Applicants must be at least 17 years old and have experience working with youth.Counselors work in a team with Jr. and Head Counselors and assist leading a group of up to 50 campers through their camp day

HEAD COUNSELOR. Applicants must be at least 20 years old. Head Counselors are responsible for the overall supervision of up to 50 campers along with up to 8 counselors. Head Counselors are responsible for supervising and evaluating staff as well as dealing with camper concerns and daily communication with parents and camp leadership. Applicants should be strong leaders with prior camping or youth development experience.

ACTIVITY SPECIALIST. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Specialists are responsible for planning and facilitating activities within their specific area (i.e. archery, arts & crafts, drama, nature, new games, low ropes, sports).Activity Specialist positions change each season as we look to provide the best variety and experiences to our campers. Experience and/or certifications relevant to certain activity may be required or may greatly further the application.

VOYAGERS COUNSELOR. Applicants must be at least 21 years old and have a clean driving record. Voyagers Counselors are responsible for planning and supervising all aspects of the Voyagers group in coordination with leadership staff. With most days spent off site, Voyagers Counselors are responsible for transporting campers in a YMCA van.

SPECIALTY/SPORTS CAMP COUNSELOR. Applicants must be at least 17 years old. Specialty/Sports Camp Counselors are responsible for assisting supervise campers in the various Specialty and Sports Camps. Experience and/or certifications in the various specialty camp areas may be required or may greatly further the application.

INCLUSION TEAM.The inclusion team is responsible to ensure that activities at camp are inclusive, review camper special consideration and provide behavior support to campers when required. If you are interested in being part of the inclusion team you should have experience in special education and positive behavior support.

LEADERSHIP POSITION. Applicant must be at least 21 years old. All leadership staff are actively involved in the overall planning and implementation of the camp program. Leadership staff is responsible for supervising and evaluating camp staff as well as dealing with camper and parent concerns. Applicants should have prior camping and supervisory experience.
