Job description

Youth Programs Instructor - Ogden GymReady to Help the Next Generation Fall in Love with Climbing?

If you light up watching a kid stick their first crux move, and you know a birthday party can double as a mini training camp, we want you on our team. The Front is looking for a Youth Programs Instructor at our Ogden Gym who can turn chalk dust and enthusiasm into real skill-building for our youngest climbers.

About The Front

The Front builds spaces that make climbing unforgettable - for beginners, dirtbags, and everyone on the wall between. Our mission is simple: create innovative facilities that maximize the climbing experience, spark real connections, and grow a community people are proud to be part of. Whether it's a first-timer sending their first V0 or a longtime member catching up at basecamp, we want every visit to feel like coming home to the crag.

About the Role

Location: Ogden Gym Pay: $17–$19/hour Schedule: Part-Time - afternoons, evenings & weekends

As Youth Programs Instructor, you'll coach our youth team athletes, run After-School Program sessions, lead birthday parties, and guide youth groups through the ropes (literally). You'll work with climbers of every age and ability, helping them build skills, confidence, and a genuine love for the sport - all while keeping the safety and stoke high.

What You'll Do
  • Deliver hands-on climbing instruction and training to kids of all ages and abilities
  • Apply solid assessment and program design principles to keep sessions engaging and effective
  • Greet every participant with energy and warmth - and actually learn their names
  • Keep an eye on the wall, catching unsafe behavior before it becomes a problem (loose kids in fall zones, gear left on mats, running, etc.)
  • Make sure kids stay in the right zones and aren't disrupting other members
  • Help keep gym resources and facilities in good shape
  • Jump in on other tasks as needed - flexibility is part of the send
What You Bring

You might be a great fit if:

  • You genuinely love teaching and connecting with kids
  • Your schedule is open for afternoons, evenings, and weekends
  • You've got 5+ years of experience across work, higher ed, or trade training - bonus points for 1-2 years in climbing instruction or programming
  • You're an avid climber or outdoor athlete yourself
  • You can motivate a room of young athletes with clear, positive communication
  • You bring high energy, a great attitude, and real team spirit
  • You're First Aid/CPR certified and Safe Sport trained (or ready to get certified - we'll train you, including CWI)
  • You're physically ready to reach, bend, twist, pull, stoop, and lift up to 25 lbs, plus stand, sit, or walk for extended stretches
  • You like building systems and checklists that keep things running smoothly
  • You put member experience first, solving problems on the fly to keep every guest stoked
Perks & Benefits
  • Free gym membership
  • Discounts on food and merchandise
  • Hands-on training and certifications (CWI, Safe Sport, and more)
  • A community-driven workplace where climbing is the culture, not just the job
Join Us!

If you're ready to shape the next generation of climbers and be part of a crew that treats the gym like basecamp, we'd love to see your application. Come help us build a community where every send - big or small - gets celebrated.

Apply today and help us get more kids on the wall.

We're an equal opportunity employer that celebrates diversity and strives to create an inclusive environment for all.
