Job description

Youth Instructor - Afterschool & Summer Programs (25-35 hours weekly)

Agape Youth & Family Center | $16-17/hour | Atlanta, GA

Agape Youth & Family Center is seeking energetic, caring, and dependable Youth Instructors to support our afterschool and summer programs. In this role, you will help create a safe, engaging, and enriching environment where youth can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Youth Instructors provide homework assistance, lead enrichment activities, build positive relationships with students, and support daily program operations.

This position may be assigned to a specific classroom or grade level, or serve as a FLOAT Instructor, providing support across multiple classrooms, age groups, or program sites as needed. Successful candidates are flexible, team-oriented, and passionate about youth development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide homework help and academic support for students.
  • Lead engaging enrichment and youth development activities.
  • Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Build supportive relationships with youth and families.
  • Support classroom management and daily program operations.
  • Maintain attendance, program documentation, and required reports.
  • Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Assist with student supervision during program activities and transitions.
  • Support transportation and bus monitoring duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with youth in an afterschool, summer camp, educational, youth ministry, or youth development setting.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with children from diverse backgrounds.
  • Dependable, professional, and committed to positive youth development.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to remain active throughout the program day and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPR/First Aid/AED Certification.
  • Bilingual (Spanish preferred).
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for positions requiring transportation responsibilities.
