Role Description The Substitute Teacher at Youth Creative Labs is a part-time, on-site role based in Tualatin, OR. In this position, the Substitute Teacher delivers prepared lessons, manages classroom activities, and maintains a safe and respectful learning environment when regular instructors are unavailable. Daily tasks include following established lesson plans, adapting instruction to diverse learning needs, supervising students during class and transitions, and supporting classroom routines. The role involves clear communication with students and staff and adhering to organizational policies and procedures. The Substitute Teacher also collaborates with program coordinators to ensure continuity of learning and a consistent experience for all participants.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Education and Teaching, with experience instructing or supporting learners in classroom or group settings.
  • Ability to follow existing curricula and adjusting activities to meet learning objectives.
  • Excellent Communication skills, including clear verbal and written communication with students, colleagues, and guardians.
  • Demonstrated classroom management skills, patience, and the ability to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • High school diploma required; associate or bachelorโ€™s degree in Education or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience working with children or youth in educational, recreational, or enrichment programs is beneficial.
  • Ability to pass any required background checks and comply with local and organizational safety standards.
  • Reliability, flexibility, and readiness to step into different classrooms and subjects as needed.
