Job description

Ettie Lee Youth & Family Services has served the complex needs of at-risk youth with emotional and behavioral problems and their families throughout Southern California for nearly 70 years.
Currently, Ettie Lee is seeking a Child Care Counselor/Facility Manager for its Residential Program.
The Position:
Residential Counselor FM PM will work with adolescents ages 13-18+ in a group home setting who have experienced significant trauma. This position offers the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the youth.
Duties Specific to Facility Manager
1. Under the leadership of the Administrator, coordinates, implements, and manages the day-to- day operations of the program.
2. Directs the Childcare Workers in the absence of the Administrator and/or ensuring that appropriate care and supervision is provided to children in accordance with applicable law, licensing regulations and the facility policies.
3. Supervising the children, as needed
4. Ensures Group Home compliance with licensing, contract and legal standards.
5. Ensures the general upkeep of the facility.
6. Oversees the planned activities required to be available to children.
7. Acts as a point of contact with agency and community professionals in the absence of the Group Home Administrator.
8. Designated to be onsite at all times to apply the reasonable and prudent parent standard to decisions involving the participation of a child in age or developmentally appropriate activities.
9. Designated to have primary responsibility for planned activities and shall be given assistance as necessary to ensure that all children participate in accordance with their needs, interest, and abilities.
10. Covers shifts in the absence of availability of other workers in emergency situations or for vacation, sick or open shifts.
11. Assist Administrator with training needs of newly hired staff and on-going training plan.
12. Manages the petty cash and petty cash receipts.

  1. Must be bilingual (Spanish speaking)
  2. a. One year of full-time experience working directly with group home youth OR b. Two years' experience as a member of the social work staff in a group home performing those duties OR c. Minimum of 15 college semester or equivalent quarter units in behavioral science, 9 units of which must be in courses relating to children with behavioral problems. The courses may include, but are not limited to curriculums in Corrections, Psychology, Social Work, or Social Welfare.
