Job description

Are you passionate about working with children and creating memorable experiences? Do you thrive in an outdoor environment and have extensive experience in waterfront activities like canoeing, kayaking and the like? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you! Join our team as a Boats Coordinator for summer 2026 (full time/seasonal)!

Camp Dates: May 18, 2026 - July 25, 2026 (first two weeks are training).

At the Y, we believe in making a positive impact. As a Waterfront Coordinator you will be responsible for supervision, administration and coordination of all facets of the waterfront program.

Responsibilities:

  • Focus on safety and fun around all boating activities
  • Schedule and supervise boating activities including waterski, waterboarding, banana boat
  • Responsible for all waterski, waterboarding and slalom curriculum
  • Responsible for care and of water vessels
  • Demonstrate leadership on the water and in your involvement of other camp activities and events
  • Address behavioral issues and ensure safety rules are followed
  • Perform first aid or provide care for injuries as needed
  • Maintain accurate incident logs and attend staff meetings and trainings
  • Assist with other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older
  • High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred
  • Must hold a current YMCA or Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
  • Requires a valid driver's license required
  • Requires a valid boaters license (one year+ holding license highly preferred)
  • Strong swimmer and extensive water experience
  • Proven experience working with children & training children
  • Familiarity with camping and various outdoor activities
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Leadership, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • A good understanding of risk management and safety
  • Positive, energetic, reliable, self-motivated, and patient attitude

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including hiking, running, crouching, and carrying children
  • Walking, stooping, standing, hearing, seeing, and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings and varying weather conditions and temperatures

Training:

  • Certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED, and O2 (provided by Y upon hire)
  • Y Camp training required before camp sessions, including online safety courses
  • New Employee Orientation required within one week of hire
