Job Summary:
Supermicro is a Top Tier provider of advanced server, storage, and networking solutions for various IT markets. They are seeking a Field Applications Engineer to develop opportunities in the global IT market, working closely with customers and internal teams to ensure project success and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
• Design and diagnose complex hardware systems with intel CPU-based x86 server and Nvidia GPU architecture
• Conduct reliability and safety inspections of x86 server racks and electronic systems during datacenter implementation to ensure optimal performance and compliance with technical standards.
• Create and deliver technical documentation outlining system requirements, deployment procedures, and ongoing maintenance, serving as a subject matter expert for x86 CPU-based or GPU datacenter solution implementations.
• Act as a subject matter expert to evaluate customer use cases, recommend x86 system design modifications, and architect datacenter solutions tailored to resolve specific customer challenges.
• Design and build proof-of-concepts that meets or exceeds customer business needs
• Develop and review systems solutions, technical bid responses and presentations
• Works closely with the sales and extended teams to map end-user customer business, partner requirements and provide most optimized technical solutions
• Some travel required (up to 25%)
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline required, Master’s desirable; computer science, computer engineering and electrical engineering preferred
• 2+ years of related experience; Experience in Compute/Storage Server or Data Center or IT Infrastructure experience desired
• Highly technical problem solver who understands x86 system architecture, hardware and software interaction; Strong debugging skills for CPU-based x86 and GPU hardware and has a good understanding of firmware, drivers, OS, Applications and their interaction that can cause system issues
• Excellent communication skills and business sense required
• Solid HW system design and diagnostics skills
• Strong technical communication and leadership skills to lead investigations with engineers of multiple disciplines
Preferred:
• Familiarity with Firmware, Linux, Windows and virtualization platforms is a plus
