THIS POSITION REQUIRES THE AVAILABILITY TO WORK A ROTATING SHIFT SCHEDULE.
Job Description/Tasks/Responsibilities
  • Operates specialized incineration and processing operations in strict accordance with procedures. Operates a forklift and other heavy equipment as required and reviews documentation of radioactive materials for completion and accuracy.
  • Receives, unloads, identifies, weighs and processes materials through incineration and systems operation activities.
  • Prepares, seals and inspects containers for containment, reliability and redirects as required ensuring quality and reliability of product integrity.
  • Performs critical maintenance including tearing down and rebuilding the refractory, cleaning the incinerator, auger repair and simple equipment maintenance as needed as well as during planned and unplanned work outages.
  • Performs field operations including Field Readings, Hearth Ash and Fly Ash Changing and conveyor line operations. Troubleshoots issues and ensures ongoing system performance.
  • Follows all safety rules, regulations and procedures. Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Receives oral and/or written instructions from supervisors. Reads and interprets equipment, operations and procedures manuals, as well as waste processing specifications, to be accountable for activities within assigned areas.
  • Operates machinery as required.
  • Wears personal protective equipment (PPE) up to level A when working in contaminated zones following the company's health physics regulations.
  • Maintains all logs, manifests, records and reports associated with all operations areas to issue and/or maintain the identity of all materials using bar codes.
  • Tracks material using EWT and Work Bench.
  • Conducts daily, weekly, and monthly facility inspection rounds to ensure safety systems are within tolerances.
  • Reviews, problem solves, performs quality checks on documentation of radioactive waste materials and outgoing radioactive shipments to ensure data is accurately tracked.
  • Must be able to perform duties in a confined space.
  • Demonstrates familiarization with multiple processes such as Waste Water Evaporator (WWE) Operations, Water Spray Operations, Air Operated Diaphragm Pump operations, Oil & Water Processing Operations, Incineration Operations, and Tracking Systems.
  • Learns control room operations.
  • Completes Incinerator Operation qualifications.
  • Works under supervision.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements/Skills
  • CSE trained
  • Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) trained
  • Fall Protection Trained
  • Strong general knowledge of basic chemistry including acids/bases and ph levels
  • Ability to read and interpret documents
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong general knowledge of processes and procedures to perform work in zones safely
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (hot or cold)
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to work at elevated heights, i.e. portable ladders, fixed ladders, rolling platforms, etc.
  • Ability to follow direction on a Work Authorization Document
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification Requirements Education
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Mechanical training preferred
Certifications
  • Respirator qualified
  • Rad Worker II
  • Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Qualified
Required Experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as Incinerator Technician or when qualifications are met and proficiency is demonstrated
Preferred Experience
  • None preferred
