Job description

We are Diversified, a global B2B events and media company that strengthens business communities by fostering a space, in person and online, for professionals and businesses to connect and grow. The company serves as a trusted partner across several industries including active lifestyle, business management, clean energy, commercial marine, healthcare, seafood, technology and more. Established in 1949 and headquartered in Portland, Maine, the global company has divisions and offices around the world in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. Diversified is a third-generation, family-owned business. Join our team as a Editor - Data & Analysis!
ABOUT THE ROLE
If you're the kind of person who gets energized by a complex dataset and immediately starts thinking about the story it tells, this role was built for you. As Editor - Data & Analysis for Marine Money, you'll sit at the heart of one of the maritime industry's most respected brands - producing the content and intelligence that a highly specialized global audience of shipowners, financiers, and advisors relies on week after week. You'll have your hands in everything from the Freshly Minted weekly newsletter and the quarterly Marine Money Magazine to two proprietary industry databases that are genuinely indispensable to the shipping finance world. This is a rare opportunity to combine analytical rigor with real editorial craft, in a role where your work has direct, visible impact on a community that takes the content seriously.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Write and deliver weekly newsletter content: Research, analyze, and write the articles and market summaries that power each issue of Freshly Minted - covering vessel transactions, shipping finance deals, capital markets activity, and global maritime developments with accuracy and analytical depth.
  • Craft features and analysis for Marine Money Magazine: Develop long-form articles, deal analyses, and data-driven market trend pieces for the quarterly magazine, producing supporting charts and graphs from both public and proprietary data sources.
  • Maintain the Marine Money Deal Database: Keep the Deal Database accurate and current by documenting shipping finance transactions - deal amounts, financiers, deal types, use of proceeds, principals, and dates - while mining it for analytical content that serves subscribers and consulting deliverables.
  • Research and update the Official Guide to Ship Registries (OGSR): Conduct ongoing research across open, national, and international registries to keep OGSR entries current, accurate, and consistent, covering registration requirements, taxation, crewing, legal frameworks, and regulatory changes.
  • Contribute to the digital membership platform: Produce short-form analysis, database highlights, and charts that add real subscriber value to the Marine Money digital platform and reflect developments across the brand's conference portfolio.
  • Monitor markets and build industry intelligence: Track shipping finance news, capital markets activity, regulatory changes, and vessel transaction data continuously, developing working knowledge of key market participants to fuel original reporting and story development.
  • Support editing, proofreading, and production: Assist the Managing Editor and Executive Editor in reviewing content across all publications, ensuring accuracy, clarity, consistency, and adherence to Marine Money's editorial style standards before anything goes to print or post.
  • Assist with conference programming: Help identify potential speakers, relevant topics, and editorial angles to support the programming needs of Marine Money's global conference portfolio, working in close coordination with editorial and event teams.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • Editorial and analytical experience: 2+ years in financial journalism, trade media, research, or a content-focused role within maritime, banking, or capital markets.
  • A feel for shipping finance: A working understanding of debt structures, vessel transactions, and capital markets activity is strongly preferred.
  • Strong writing and translation skills: You can take complex financial data and market intelligence and turn it into clear, well-structured, compelling content.
  • Data discipline and attention to detail: You approach structured data and reference content with care, catching inconsistencies and maintaining the kind of quality control that keeps a proprietary database trustworthy.
  • Deadline management across multiple cycles: You're comfortable juggling weekly newsletter production alongside quarterly magazine deadlines and ongoing database maintenance.
  • Digital publishing fluency: You're familiar with content management systems and digital publishing workflows; basic HTML knowledge is a plus.
  • A collaborative, self-starting mindset: You work well independently and as part of a lean, high-trust team, following through reliably and bringing a genuine interest in the subject matter to everything you produce.

TRAVEL
This role includes travel, typically a few times per year, which include attendance at Marine Money conference events and other industry events.
WHY DIVERSIFIED?
  • Work Environment: We offer the flexibility to work fully remote or enjoy a hybrid work schedule. Let our culture speak for itself.
  • Work-Life Balance: Generous paid time off programs including vacation, sick leave and paid family and medical leave.
  • Training & Development: From training conferences to professional development seminars, we invest in resources, including LinkedIn Learning for all staff, that empower employees to excel in their careers.
  • Comprehensive Healthcare: Inclusive benefits beyond traditional healthcare coverage, including no-cost-to-you services. Free access to all employees and their families to a national network of licensed clinical psychologists, interactive self-paced programs, life coaches and 24/7 support.
  • Wellness Benefits: Employees can earn credit towards their health insurance premiums by engaging in our Wellness Program which supports physical, mental, and emotional well-being through offering fitness challenges, webinars, and nutrition education.

We are dedicated to creating, promoting, and nurturing a safe & inclusive work environment and we expect the same from each of our employees. We value diverse talents and welcome individuals with unique backgrounds, working styles, and skillsets. We believe that our differences make us a better team and stronger community by allowing us to make better decisions, be more innovative, and better serve our customers and business partners. We invite you to learn more about us.
