Job description

Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! MCCS is a comprehensive program that supports and enhances the quality of life for Marines, their families, and others in the Marine Corps Community. We offer a team oriented environment comprised of military personnel, civilian employees, contractors and volunteers who keep the organization functioning smoothly and effectively.Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelors degree in exercise science, physiology, human performance, kinesiology biomechanics sports and health education or similar field AND one year of applicable experience. Certification form an accredited organization in strength and Conditioning NSCACSCS or CSCCA. USAW Level 1/II is required. Collegiate and/or high school athletic playing experience preferred.

Proficient with sport physiology, strength and conditioning, human performance, kinesiology, physical education or a related field. Understanding of concepts, principles and practices of tactical strength and conditioning, and the unit readiness planning process to establish and maintain tactical fitness of individual Marines and Marine units. Knowledge of strength and conditioning for high school, college, professional, military units, or first responders and the ability to apply and follow principles of strength conditioning: overload, progression, specificity, variation and reversibility in programs designed for high school, collegiate, or military and first responder environments. Experience coaching within an interdisciplinary human performance or sports science team responsible for developing and maintaining the health, wellness, and performance of athletic teams and/or military units. Proficient in writing, coaching, modifying, and supporting strength and conditioning workouts for large team/groups (15-50 athletes) to include pre- and post-performance testing. Expert in applying general sport psychology concepts to include motivational theory, imagery, positive self-talk, focus, and arousal to enhance individual and unit performance. Expertise the principles of biomechanics, anatomy, and metabolism and how these principles apply to operational performance, energy, and performance in a tactical or performance-based setting. Familiar with coordinating strength and conditioning training based upon the needs of sports coaching staff or unit leadership to best align with in-season, out of season competition and/or military deployment cycles.

Practical knowledge, skill and ability to teach, demonstrate and evaluate warm-ups, speed, agility, quickness, strength, power, aerobic and anaerobic conditioning, injury prevention, correctives, and recovery components of a comprehensive performance program.

Familiarity with counseling and recommend training guidelines and expertise to Marines and authorized patrons as necessary and ability to design periodized general physical preparation programs, or sport specific programs as needed for other authorized users such as family members and contribute to a library of GPP programming as needed for Marines, families and authorized users. Experience referring participants to a medical provider or other services as necessary when evaluations or assessments prove contraindicative of exercise.

Industry level knowledge on the various supporting elements within an athletic setting such as athletic trainers, applied mental skills consultants, dietitians, and sleep health coaches.

Knowledge of the application of strength and conditioning coaching in support of a larger organizational component above a team such as an athletic department, military unit, or other sports and athletic organization. Understanding strength and conditioning principles and the ability to apply them in a higher performance setting such as the military, first-responder, high school, and collegiate setting. Insight to implement rules, guidelines, emergency procedures, and policies dictated by policy, and installation standard operating procedures.
