Cardiology Locums Needed Galesburg, Illinois

Locum Tenens October 2026 Start

WPA Medicine Staffing is seeking a General Cardiology Physician for an ongoing locum tenens opportunity beginning in October 2026. This assignment offers a collaborative practice environment with a balanced mix of inpatient consultative services, outpatient clinic responsibilities, and call coverage in a well-supported cardiovascular program.

Assignment Highlights
  • Start: October 2026
  • Coverage Type: Locum Tenens
  • Commitment: Approximately 7 shifts per month
  • Schedule: 7-day coverage blocks every other month
  • Shift: 24-hour coverage (8:00 AM 8:00 AM)
  • Setting: Inpatient and Outpatient Cardiology
  • Onsite Requirement: 8:00 AM 9:00 PM onsite; remaining hours on call
  • Credentialing Timeframe: TBD

This ongoing opportunity is ideal for a General Cardiologist seeking predictable block scheduling within a collaborative team environment. Providers will work alongside an established cardiology program and will not practice solo.

Coverage includes inpatient consults, hospital rounding, outpatient clinic responsibilities, and shared call coverage. The daytime schedule typically includes approximately eight hours of direct patient care consisting of either full-day inpatient responsibilities or a combination of inpatient and outpatient clinic coverage. Overnight callback volume is low.

Clinical responsibilities include:

  • Inpatient cardiology consults and rounding
  • Outpatient cardiology clinic coverage
  • Stress test interpretation
  • Echocardiogram reading and interpretation
  • Medical management of general cardiology patients across inpatient and outpatient settings

Patient volumes average approximately 15 inpatient encounters per day and 8 10 clinic patients daily.

  • BC/BE in Cardiology
  • Active Illinois Medical License or willingness to obtain one
  • Illinois DEA Registration
  • Illinois Controlled Substance Registration (CSR)
  • IMLC-eligible candidates welcome
  • ACLS Certification
  • BLS Certification
  • Minimum of one year of post-training experience
