What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a WOSTEP-trained Watchmaker, and why are they important?

To excel as a WOSTEP-trained Watchmaker, you need expertise in horology, fine motor skills, and completion of the WOSTEP certification or an equivalent watchmaking program. Mastery of precision tools, timepiece assembly/disassembly, and diagnostic equipment is crucial. Attention to detail, patience, and problem-solving abilities set outstanding watchmakers apart. These skills ensure the accurate repair, servicing, and restoration of watches, maintaining both functionality and customer satisfaction.

What are WOSTEP watchmakers?

WOSTEP watchmakers are professionals who have completed training at the Watchmakers of Switzerland Training and Educational Program (WOSTEP). This internationally recognized program equips watchmakers with the skills and certifications needed to repair, service, and assemble high-quality mechanical watches. WOSTEP graduates are highly regarded in the horology industry for their technical proficiency and adherence to Swiss standards. Many luxury watch brands and service centers prefer or require watchmakers with WOSTEP certification.
