Job description

The Church

We are a diverse, growing community of around 1200 people in San Antonio ,Tx. who take worship seriously and don't take ourselves too seriously. We're looking for a Worship Arts Pastor to help us keep meeting God together, week after week.

The Role

This is a full-time pastoral role. You'll lead the people, the planning, and the musical and creative vision behind our weekend worship experience. You'll partner closely with our Creative Arts Director, who oversees Sunday production, so the two of you can deliver services that are both musically strong and well produced. It also means being a pastor: caring for people, shaping spiritual formation, and helping a room full of worshipers grow in their journey.

You will partner in true collaboration with the Lead Pastor. You will provide direction and support to the Creative Arts Director on worship and service execution, and you lead the worship team and its volunteers. Your work week runs Sunday through Thursday.

Sundays + weekend worship

  • Serve as our primary worship leader, and lead worship week to week with excellence and authenticity
  • Plan and evaluate weekend services alongside our service leaders so every Sunday is intentional
  • Set the worship and creative vision for each service, and partner with the Creative Arts Director to bring it to life on stage and screen
  • Provide direction and support to the Creative Arts Director, who oversees Sunday production-align on service flow and keep music and production moving together

Volunteer culture (your biggest win)

  • Recruit, train, and coach musicians, vocalists, and worship team leads
  • Build a leadership pipeline so worship doesn't depend on one person
  • Create a culture where volunteers feel known, valued, and developed
  • Run rehearsals that are prepared, prayerful, and worth people's time

Pastoral care + spiritual formation

  • Shepherd your team spiritually, not just musically
  • Share in pastoral care: preaching, weddings, funerals, hospital visits, coaching, and counseling
  • Help worship form people, connecting what happens on Sunday to how people follow Jesus the rest of the week

Ministry administration + budget

  • Own the worship ministry's calendar, volunteer onboarding pipeline, and Worship Arts handbook
  • Build and manage the worship ministry budget (plan, track, adjust)
  • Model fiscal responsibility and stewardship, and approve expenditures within your area
  • Collaborate across teams to align calendars, strategy, and resourcing

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 3+ years of progressively responsible worship or music ministry experience, or a high level of musical competence (band leadership, modulation/transposition, improvisation)
  • Proven ability to recruit, lead, and develop volunteers
  • Strong communication with volunteers, parents, staff, and the congregation
  • Grounded in biblical theology, spiritual formation, and the foundational beliefs of the Christian faith
  • Organized, relational, steady under pressure

Preferred (not required)

  • Licensed and/or ordained minister
  • Bachelor's degree (music, ministry, or related field)
  • Large church experience (750+)
  • Fluency in the full range of worship elements: vocal, instrumental, visual, content, movement
  • Familiarity with Planning Center Online and music software (Finale, Logic, MainStage, Ableton Live)

What success looks like (first 6-12 months)

  • Sundays feel consistent, excellent, and spiritually engaging across every service
  • Worship teams are staffed, trained, and supported-less scrambling
  • A real leadership pipeline exists, so the ministry isn't carried by one person
  • Music and production move together seamlessly through a strong partnership with the Creative Arts Director

What it's like to work here

What We Ask of Every Staff Member

  • An active, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

  • A commitment to our staff values and to our Partnership and Leadership Covenants.
  • A willingness to partner across departments to lead and launch ministry initiatives together.
