As Senior Program Manager you will report to Lara Hegler, COO. You will serve as manager of key Construction Management and Program Management projects with an emphasis on the Federal Market. In addition, you will mentor, manage and recruit talent to support growth of our Construction Management and Program Management practice, and play a key role in identifying, positioning for and winning new work.

Your general roles and responsibilities are as follows:

  1. You will serve as the lead for large and complex projects, including the Kongsberg Missile Assembly and Maintenance facility (WSP), the Department of Homeland Security Nationwide On-call CM (Jacobs), and the Virginia Port Authority Program Management (Moffatt & Nicol). Depending upon the tasks assigned to Alpha you may work onsite to deliver PM and CM services, you may plan and start the task and then manage others to complete the work, and you will work directly with our clients to position for follow-on work and new opportunities.
  2. You will work with the Chief Growth Officer and other Alpha managers to identify opportunities, position for, win, staff and deliver projects, with an emphasis on the Federal Market. You will meet with clients to ascertain relevant project information, research capital plans and related client information, and lead or support proposal development and writing.
  3. You will oversee and mentor field staff for Construction Management work, including work already underway. As a technical expert, you will support the development of Construction Management staff and ensure that Alpha consistently delivers excellent services that exceed our clientsโ€™ expectations.
  4. You will assist in recruiting, assigning staff to projects, ensuring quality and workload balancing. You will work with other Alpha managers to ensure our staff are receiving appropriate equipment, guidance, and overall support.
  5. You will work closely with Mike Pampalone, Chief Growth Officer, and Rachel Honderd, SVP, to strategize, plan and pursue projects and partnerships with other firms in the Federal Market and make Go/No-go decisions.
  6. You will support the Operations of the company by providing and updating revenue and sales forecasts, project performance updates, employee evaluations, and other management reports and updates.
  7. You will collaborate with other Alpha Managers to optimize efficiencies and profitability of the work in your purview and throughout the company.
  8. You will occasionally participate with Alpha leadership in strategic planning, training, and other company-wide initiatives.
  9. Your role will be collaborative, and you will work closely with your peers to grow the business in the Federal, State and company-wide markets.

Project Management โ€“ Manage and lead the delivery of complex and large projects

  • Providing responsive management oversight and administration throughout all phases of construction and inspection activities
  • Ensuring successful delivery of projects of significant scale and considerable complexity on time, on budget, high quality and environmental compliance
  • Providing Independent Assurance and Independent Oversight on complex Federal CM contracts
  • Ensuring environmental, safety, and quality compliance and oversees utility coordination throughout the construction process
  • Conducting construction progress meetings as needed to resolve construction related issues and assume primary responsibility for compliance with contractual requirements and adherence to fee budgets.
  • Advise accounting/finance on project billing, budget tracking, and assist in collections.
  • Providing project oversight, support, technical advice and perform contractor performance evaluations
  • Ensuring field tasks are adequately covered and all project construction activities are accurately documented
  • Lead partnering meetings to ensure client coordination and stakeholder concerns are resolved
  • Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, and evaluating new employees to support the practice
  • Responsible for leading and developing marketing materials for Client solicitations and responses including sources sought, expressions of interest, proposals, and interviews.

Resource Management โ€“ Supervise, coach, and motivate program/projects team members; bring together team members, processes and tools to accomplish a successful outcome.

  • Manage multiple teams of employees, project managers, construction managers, schedulers inspectors, MEP coordinators and assistant project managers
  • Assign appropriate personnel to administer and control the projects; scope, communications, schedule, budget, risk management and quality control
  • Identify skills, strengths and weaknesses for employees.
  • Build cooperative and cohesive teams

  • Delegate jobs and authority in accordance with employees' skills and abilities
  • Mediate conflicts and conduct employeesโ€™ annual reviews

Business Development โ€“ Manage client relationships for new and existing clients and position for and win work.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key client partners and industry stakeholders to identify and advance opportunities
  • Engage clients early to understand needs, priorities, and procurement drivers, and translate those into actionable pursuit strategies. Identify, track, and qualify new opportunities within assigned markets, focusing on high-probability pursuits aligned with firm capabilities.
  • Collaborate with technical staff and leadership align team capabilities with client needs.
  • Lead internal business development and pipeline reviews to assess opportunity status, refine strategies, and drive accountability for results
  • Develop capture strategies for assigned pursuits, including teaming, win themes, differentiation, and client engagement plans
  • Contribute to development and management of annual business development plans and budgets aligned with strategic goals
  • Support proposal development and interview preparation by ensuring alignment between client needs, capture strategy, and proposed solutions
  • Strengthen client relationships across projects by delivering responsive service, identifying follow-on opportunities, and expanding scope
  • Mentor Technical staff in relationship-building, client engagement, and relationship management to expand firm business development capabilities
  • Conduct market and competitor intelligence to inform positioning, including monitoring industry trends, procurement forecasts, trade journals, and competitor activity
  • Understand and respond to potential clientsโ€™ needs and objectives
  • Identify and pursue cross-selling and pull-through opportunities within existing client accounts to grow revenue and increase value
  • Evaluate participation in industry/trade organizations, conferences, and sponsorships. Use those platforms to build targeted relationships.
  • Maintain current and accurate opportunity data for entry in CRM, including clients, contacts and status.
