Job description

Wellness Coordinator, Employee Assistance Program | Cleveland, Ohio

CLFC is hiring a Wellness Coordinator to deliver the workplace wellness, orientation, and training side of an Employee Assistance Program serving the City of Cleveland workforce. This is the role employees actually see. It carries the program from a benefit listed on paper to a service people know about, trust, and use.

The Wellness Coordinator plans and runs the program's outreach calendar: new employee orientation sessions, supervisor training, lunch and learn workshops, benefit fair presence, health promotion campaigns, and seasonal wellness programming. The role coordinates directly with client human resources staff, department leadership, and worksite contacts to schedule sessions that reach employees on their own shifts and at their own locations. This role does not provide clinical counseling; it drives awareness, engagement, education, and utilization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and manage the annual wellness, training, and outreach calendar with client human resources and department leadership.
  • Deliver employee orientation sessions explaining what the program offers, how confidentiality works, and how to access services.
  • Deliver supervisor and management training on recognizing performance concerns and making appropriate referrals.
  • Plan and present lunch and learn sessions on stress management, financial wellness, work and life balance, resilience, and substance awareness.
  • Represent the program at benefit fairs, open enrollment events, safety meetings, roll calls, and department gatherings.
  • Coordinate scheduling and logistics across office, public safety, utility, and field worksites, including sessions timed to reach shift operations.
  • Distribute and maintain program materials including brochures, wallet cards, posters, and digital content.
  • Track participation, engagement, and campaign results, and prepare the outreach portion of quarterly program reporting.
  • Route all clinical questions, disclosures, and risk situations promptly to licensed clinical staff per program protocol.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in health promotion, public health, health education, wellness, human resources, communications, or a related field. Equivalent directly relevant experience is considered.
  • Minimum 2 years in workplace wellness, health promotion, benefits communication, or training coordination.
  • Demonstrated group presentation and facilitation skills with adult audiences.
  • Strong scheduling and logistics management across multiple concurrent worksites and stakeholders.
  • Professional written and verbal communication, including outreach materials and participation summaries.
  • Understanding of workplace confidentiality and the boundary between wellness education and clinical services.
  • Based in the Cleveland metropolitan area with reliable transportation to worksites across Cuyahoga County.
  • Availability for some early morning and evening sessions to reach employees on non-standard shifts.

Strongly Preferred

  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), Certified Worksite Wellness Specialist, or comparable credential.
  • Prior experience supporting an employee assistance program or behavioral health benefit.
  • Experience with municipal, county, or state government workforces and union-represented employee groups.
  • Experience with public safety or field operations populations and shift-based scheduling.
  • Familiarity with Northeast Ohio community health and wellness resources.

Compensation and Engagement

  • $22.00 to $25.00 per hour, based on experience and credentials.
  • Part-time W-2 engagement with a predictable scheduled calendar set in advance.
  • Benefits eligibility per plan terms for qualifying part-time schedules, including health, dental, and vision.
  • Paid time off accrual, holiday schedule, and 401(k) eligibility after the qualifying period.
  • Mileage reimbursement for travel between worksites.
  • Professional development support and continuing education resources.
  • Multi-year engagement potential aligned with the program's base and option year structure.
  • Local role with no relocation requirement for candidates already in the Cleveland metropolitan area.
