Workplace Associates are professionals who support the daily operations and functionality of office environments. Their responsibilities often include managing office supplies, coordinating facility maintenance, handling mail and deliveries, and assisting with meeting room setups. They play a key role in ensuring that employees have a comfortable, efficient, and safe work environment. Workplace Associates may also help organize events and serve as a point of contact for vendors or building management.

To thrive as a Workplace Associate, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and typically a background in facilities management or office administration. Familiarity with workplace management software, scheduling systems, and basic office equipment is often required. Excellent interpersonal skills, a service-oriented mindset, and problem-solving abilities help you excel in supporting employees and maintaining a productive work environment. These skills ensure efficient operations, a positive employee experience, and smooth day-to-day functioning of the workplace.

Job description

About You:
You are a high achiever looking to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You take pride in your own work but are comfortable collaborating with a team of highly motivated individuals. You can communicate clearly and concisely with teammates and clients, and you enjoy strong company culture and camaraderie. You can navigate multiple corporate functions, including global lines of service and corporate centers of excellence. You possess strong interpersonal skills and are willing to take on diverse tasks to achieve the team’s common goal. You value personal and professional growth and are ready to take the next step in advancing your career.
If this sounds like you, well, then you will love the culture at Avison Young!
About Us:
Avison Young is a global commercial real estate brokerage and advisory firm, offering transaction, management, financial and consulting services. We’ve designed our corporate structure to best serve our clients by enhancing collaboration across our organization.
Real estate can have an enormous positive impact on people’s lives – and we’re in the business of making spaces and places work better for people. Our purpose is to create real economic, social and environmental value as a global real estate advisor, powered by people.
We care about each other and we have each other’s backs. This makes Avison Young a great place to be a client, and a great place to work. We support the whole person and their complete wellness – economic, mental and physical – because what’s best for our business comes from our people bringing their whole selves to work.

Of course we love it here, but outsiders think we’re pretty great too! Avison Young has been recognized as one of Canada's Best Managed Companies for the 15th year in a row, with a Platinum Club designation!

You will need to be nimble, flexible, and responsible for “wearing many hats” as the team continues to grow rapidly.  You will be required to continue strengthening existing internal relationships, existing client relationships, pursue new business, and leading the successful delivery of Workplace Consulting projects alongside the Principal & Senior Director, Workplace Consulting and the Principal & Managing Director, Project Management & Workplace Consulting.

You will be entrusted to enhance, grow and be an integral part of the new Workplace Consulting service line focused on developing, creating and implementing the optimal solutions for our clients. You will enhance our clients’ performance by driving the use of information and technology through strategy, process, system, structural and behavioral change across a wide range of sectors. You will develop strategies derived from understanding our client’s business, operations, strategy, talent, technology, real estate and space while integrating real estate and infrastructure consulting solutions.

Your role will be part of an ambitious team that is changing the way operations and real estate decisions are made. You will have a highlevel of autonomy to work when and where you prefer, assuming you deliver per your engagement agreements with clients.

Currently, there are 3 key sub-service lines within the Workplace Consulting practice:

  1. Workplace Intelligence (Strategy)
  • Current state audit
  • Business Strategy alignment
  • Stakeholder, Leader and Employee engagements
  • Workplace Analytics
  • Hybrid Scenario Modelling/ Mobility Profiling
  • Space Program Development
  • Test Fits
  • Workplace Settings (Kit of Parts), standards & metrics
  • National/Global Workplace Playbooks
  1. Design Advisory
  • Design Oversight/Management (for clients who have a design team already):
  • Ensuring the implementation of the client approved workplace strategy and concepts are carried through into the design documents prepared by the client’s team.
  1. Change Engagement/Management
  • Assess the change and develop a Change Strategy
  • Workplace Transformation Roadmap
  • Manage the change and guide the people through the journey
  • Evaluate the results post-move
  1. Business Development & Brokerage Enablement
  • Winning Mandates: Partner with Brokers to lead the workplace strategy portion of "win-loss" pitches, providing the strategic "hook" that differentiates our firm.
  • Revenue Growth: Identify opportunities to upsell consulting services to existing brokerage clients and drive new fee-based revenue streams.
  • Thought Leadership: Act as a subject matter expert for the Canadian market, contributing to white papers, webinars, and industry events (CoreNet, IFMA, etc.).
  • Internal Education: Build deep relationships with cross-functional teams to demystify workplace strategy and empower brokers to identify strategic leads earlier in the sales cycle.

As a recent “start-up” Practice and encouragement of entrepreneurial spirit, the long-term goal for the Canadian Workplace Consulting practice is to expand into other advisory services, not limited to the following examples:
