A Workover Rig job involves performing maintenance, repair, and completion tasks on existing oil and gas wells to improve production and extend their lifespan. Workers operate specialized equipment to replace downhole components, fix casing issues, or stimulate the well. The job requires physical labor, mechanical skills, and adherence to strict safety procedures. Workover rig crews often work in remote locations and follow shift-based schedules.
Workover rig crews generally operate on a rotational schedule, such as 14 days on and 14 days off, or similar shifts, depending on the company and location. During your shift, you can expect long workdays—often 12 hours or more—outdoors and in varying weather conditions, with teamwork at the core as crews collaborate closely to maintain safety and operational efficiency. These skills are critical for minimizing downtime and ensuring safe, efficient well interventions in demanding field conditions.
