JOB SUMMARY 

Hope Academy is a career-preparedness high school in Tempe, Arizona, serving students who benefit from a smaller, relationship-driven, highly structured learning environment. Maricopa County Regional School District (MCRSD) is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Special Education Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs in an alternative education setting.

The ideal candidate is passionate about helping students overcome barriers to success through individualized instruction, strong relationship-building, and collaboration with staff and families. This position requires flexibility, patience, and the ability to create a supportive learning environment for at-risk youth while ensuring compliance with special education requirements and student IEPs.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field

Valid Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate (or eligibility to obtain)

Experience working with at-risk students and/or students with disabilities

Knowledge of IEP development, accommodations, modifications, and progress monitoring

Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, support staff, families, and outside agencies

Ability to pass fingerprint clearance and background check

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

Master's degree in Special Education or related field

Experience working in an alternative school setting, credit recovery program, or behavioral support environment

Knowledge of transition planning, behavior intervention strategies, and trauma-informed practices

Experience managing compliance requirements and special education documentation

Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
