Kamehameha Schools Kapฤlama is hiring two (2) Athletic Utility Workers to support our Athletics department! These positions assist with campus athletic facilities, such as gyms or the stadium, and typically work afternoons from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Job Summary
Assists athletic department with a wide variety of support functions including custodial, laundry, mechanical, set ups and direct student support services.
Essential Functions
  • Receives, verifies and processes new uniform inventory.
  • Keeps accurate records on uniform sizing and locker information.
  • Supervises athletic locker room use by ensuring student athletes follow procedures and established rules, securing locker room and monitoring appropriate use of locker room facilities.
  • Responsible for washing, drying, folding, sorting and preparing uniform sets, towels and related items (approximately 1500 pieces per day) for student athletes and approved coaches assigned to a variety of athletic teams on a daily basis.
  • Under the direction of an Athletic Administrator, set up/breakdown fields, facilities and equipment.
  • Opens and secures all areas of the facility as needed for classes, meetings, practices, tours, etc.
  • Meets with users prior to special events to determine facilities usage requirements.
  • Picks up and/or delivers assigned athletic equipment to various locations as required for practices and games.
  • Receives coaches' athletic equipment requests and pulls items from storage. Prepares equipment for safe use by cleaning and ensuring equipment is in working order. Assist with inventory of equipment at the start/end of each season and prepares list of missing items.
  • May sell or collect items at sporting events.

Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Minimum 6 months of related work experience.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple job assignments.
  • Ability to understand and follow through on verbal and written instructions.
  • Previous experience utilizing laundry cleaning and stain removal techniques.
  • Able to work a flexible work schedule to include evenings, weekends, holidays as needed.
  • Able to lift and push supplies, equipment or laundry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • First Aid and CPR certification.

Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
  • Frequently stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp firmly.

Working Conditions
  • This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
