License and Certification Qualifications:
- Valid Georgia Educator's Certificate in Educational Leadership and/or Support Personnel License issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission Required
Education Qualifications:

- Doctoral Degree in related field Preferred
Experience Qualifications:
- 5 years of successful public school experience Required
- Experience working with at-risk youth and parents Preferred

Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for developing and implementing community-based mentoring programs to support at-risk students and parents of at-risk students through academic and behavioral interventions.
- Design, develop, and implement a Community-Based Mentoring program targeted toward the needs of middle and high school students.
- Synthesize findings from current and relevant research regarding mentoring programs.
- Review components of Community-Based Mentoring programs currently in operation in other top achieving school districts.
- Collaborate with school leadership staff to identify students as potential candidates for participation in the mentoring program.
- Ensure alignment of program design with the district's strategic vision for results.
- Network with community-based agencies and organizations to establish a candidate pool of potential mentors.
- Compile baseline data as a critical reference to drive program design and implementation.
- Establish goals related to performance targets for improved behavior and academic performance.
- Review available grant opportunities for program funding support and pursue as appropriate.
- Design program guidelines and procedures for effective mentoring practices.
- Review and select appropriate materials and resources to support the program.
- Identify research-based best practices to establish program standards.
- Develop schedule of mentoring activities to provide a planning structure for students, parents, local schools, and mentors.
- Design an effective training program for mentors.
- Develop formal and informal evaluation processes to determine program effectiveness.
- Support other district programs and initiatives designed to promote academic rigor for all students.
- Articulate program goals, initiatives, and results to internal and external groups, including teachers and local school leadership staff, community members, members of the Board of Education, and the press.
- Supervise and evaluate program support staff.
- Direct the continuous improvement efforts for all departmental processes.
- Collaborate with the existing mentoring program in Gwinnett County.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to touch, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
