What does working in mean in a job context?

The phrase 'working in' typically refers to the act of being employed within a particular industry, field, or location. Job Title: General Production WorkerJob Description

This role involves working on a production line to palletize and shrink wrap products, move materials, and maintain a clean and sanitary work area in a food manufacturing environment. You will handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving products, operating manual pallet jacks, and recording product weights to ensure accurate and efficient workflow.

Responsibilities
  • Palletize finished products and securely shrink wrap them for storage or shipment.
  • Clean and sanitize workstations regularly to maintain a safe and hygienic food production environment.
  • Move product and materials using a manual pallet jack in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Weigh products on a small digital scale and accurately read and record digital weights before sending items to the warehouse.
  • Handle and move filled bags that can weigh up to 50 pounds, following company policy requiring two employees for any load over 50 pounds.
  • Push and pull large bowls on wheels weighing up to 1,000 pounds and move at least eight bowls per shift as part of the production process.
  • Perform general production line duties, including assembly, packaging, and food production tasks as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures and good manufacturing practices (GMPs), including proper use of required personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work area by adhering to all facility rules regarding clothing, personal items, and hygiene.
  • Support overall production efficiency by communicating clearly with team members and assisting in other areas of the manufacturing process as required.
Essential Skills
  • Experience working in a general labor, construction, manufacturing, or similar general labor environment within the last 5 years.
  • At least 1 year of continuous employment with the same company within the last 5 years, demonstrating reliability and consistency.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, up to 8–12 hours per shift, in a physically demanding role.
  • Capability to lift and move bags weighing up to 50 pounds and safely handle heavier items with team assistance according to company policy.
  • Comfort working in a production, assembly, packaging, or food manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and accurately record digital weights on a small scale.
  • Willingness to perform repetitive physical tasks, including pushing and pulling heavy wheeled equipment weighing up to 1,000 pounds.
  • Commitment to following safety protocols and good manufacturing practices (GMPs).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior experience in production, production line work, general labor, assembly, packaging, or food production.
  • Background in food manufacturing or machine operation in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong attention to detail when recording weights and handling products.
  • Ability to adapt to varying temperatures, including working in areas that may reach up to 90 degrees in the summer.
  • Reliability in attending scheduled shifts and completing assigned tasks consistently.
  • Willingness to complete an on-site orientation lasting approximately 3–4 hours prior to starting regular duties.
Why Work Here?

You will join a small, close-knit team in a family-like environment where safety and good manufacturing practices are top priorities. The workplace emphasizes clear communication, thorough orientation, and strong safety culture, giving you the training and support needed to succeed. You can expect a stable production environment with a focus on teamwork, respect, and consistent operating standards.

Work Environment

The role is based in a small-town, family-like facility with approximately 30 full-time employees, fostering a close and supportive team atmosphere. The environment is a food manufacturing setting where safety and adherence to good manufacturing practices (GMPs) are critically important. Team members must follow a specific dress code that includes steel-toed boots, hair net, eye protection, jeans, shirt, bump cap, and lab coat. Additional requirements include no smoking or tobacco products on-site, no perfume or cologne, no fingernail polish, no jewelry of any kind, and no piercings. Clothing must be free of rips, tears, holes, or added embellishments. The facility can become hot in the summer, with some manufacturing rooms reaching up to 90 degrees, while conditions are comfortable during the winter. Work involves standing for 8–12 hours, performing physically demanding tasks such as lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy items.
