Job description

Title: Production Desktop Specialist
Duration: 6+ month contract with possibility of extension

Work auth: Any, no OPT/CPT/F1

Location: 3 days/week Hybrid in Boston, MA (Tues, Wed, Thurs)

As a key Desktop member of the GIS Publishing Team, you will participate in updating fact sheets, sales ideas, and brochures for a broad range of sales, consultant, and relationship management clients as well as for the public. You will also update the company's forms and applications and perform other tasks as needed. These materials come to the GIS Publishing Team already designed and are required to be updated on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis.

  • You will work with the GIS Publishing Team to update, revise, reformat, and proofread sales ideas and other client and/or marketing deliverables. These materials may be produced in multiple syntax for global distribution. You will also deliver PDFs for review to other members of the team, manage electronic and hardcopy files, and collect files for output for upload to printer and translation vendors. You will also be responsible for file management and other Desktop Production "housekeeping" duties.
  • You will perform these copy/document edits using primarily InDesign / Illustrator on a Macintosh platform.
  • You will interact with a variety of groups across the company, including Sales & Marketing, members of the Service Center, Design, and Vendor Relationship Management.
  • You will ensure all materials are accurate and that timelines are met.
  • You will be expected to manage multiple projects/deliverables with competing deadlines on a daily basis, and to coordinate rapidly changing priorities.

We are looking for someone with:

  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • Proficiency with Macintosh OS and knowledge of Desktop publishing software including InDesign, Illustrator (and its Datylon plug-in)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to self-proof. Ability to manage individual projects, multitask and problem solve when issues or questions arise
  • Comfort with dealing with numbers is required. Understanding of financial data and terms is a plus.
  • Some PC experience/familiarity is required (Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook, Workfront).
  • Familiarity with databases and their associated workflows is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn, attention to detail, and the ability to stay organized in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment is preferred.
