Position Overview:
The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing end-to-end payroll processing across all pay cycles while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a best-in-class employee experience. Reporting to the Director of Payroll & HRIS, this role serves as a subject matter expert in payroll operations, including tax regulations, audits, and system optimization.
This individual will manage payroll operations through ADP Enterprise V6 (EV6) and Workforce Software (WFS), lead a small team, and support cross-functional initiatives in partnership with HR, Finance, and other business stakeholders. The role also plays a key part in continuous process improvement, reporting, and compliance with federal, state, and local payroll requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for weekly, biweekly, and monthly pay cycles
  • Manage and develop the payroll team (including Payroll Administrators) and coordinate with ADP MPS
  • Maintain payroll accuracy through audits, reconciliations, and detailed reporting
  • Process manual payroll calculations, adjustments, and upload files as needed
  • Track and resolve payroll issues, including overpayments and repayments
  • Lead quarter-end and year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and distribution
  • Manage payroll tax setup, compliance, and resolution of complex federal and multi-state tax issues
  • Handle tax notices and maintain relationships with federal, state, and local agencies
  • Oversee amendments, including W-2C processing
  • Generate and analyze payroll reports for Payroll, Finance, HR, and senior leadership
  • Partner with Finance on GL reporting, accruals, and discrepancy resolution
  • Support strategic HR and Payroll projects (e.g., system implementations, compliance initiatives, process harmonization)
  • Develop and document payroll processes, identifying opportunities for efficiency and improvement
  • Ensure proper deployment of payroll-related policies (e.g., direct deposit, employee tax elections)
  • Provide responsive, high-quality support to stores and internal stakeholders on payroll matters

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Proven experience in payroll processing and payroll operations management
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
  • Experience managing payroll audits, compliance, and reporting
  • Prior team management experience preferred
  • Experience with ADP Enterprise Version 6 (EV6), ADP Reporting (ADPR), and ADP GL
  • Experience with Workforce Software (WFS)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to partner across functions
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Salary: $140,000 - $146,000* annually*
*The offered salary or salary range is based on several factors, including, but not limited to, overall experience, relevant experience, education level, certifications, applicable skills and expertise, and location of the position.
