Summary:

Successful moving company looking to hire full-time Dispatcher/ load planner for household goods moving company.

This position's primary responsibility is Planning loads out of specific geographical region; review capacity and details of loads in order to efficiently plan available capacity; work with United and hauling partners to cover all tonnage

Responsibilities:

  • Plan household goods shipments originating in a specific geographic location
  • Analyze loads for viability based on load dates, delivery dates, line haul and revenue per mile
  • Assign van operators to shipments according to factors such as: origin and destination, weight of shipment and customer requirements
  • Monitor van operators for next assignment
  • Monitor deviation from planned size of shipment and expected delivery time
  • Equitably distribute work and revenue among van operator fleet
  • Build relationships with van operators, ensuring a positive work environment and overall retention of driver workforce
  • Investigate late arrivals due to equipment failure and reports to necessary parties involved
  • Direct activities of van operators by phone, e-mail and other tracking measures
  • Confer with move coordinators, sales, dispatchers, other agents to expedite or locate missing, misrouted, or delayed household shipments
  • Establish routes for most advantageous use of time, fuel and driver efficiency possibly involving back/head haul coordination for optimal utilization.
  • Manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of driver training and household goods paperwork through improvements to each function as well as coordination and communication between drivers and business functions. This applies to our local moving authority and National Van Lines affiliation
  • Understand and dispatch according to DOT hours of service regulations
  • Update Customer and Websites with load information
  • Communicate with shop regarding repair and maintenance issues
